They are building a bellytank on Monster Garage tonight and Al Teague and Bill Burke are going to be on the show. Not sure what it is about but looks cool on the website. Chris Nelson Kansas Yea, I know I need to quit watching TV and keep the wife happy on VD day. But I already did that yesterday with a babershop quartet.
The Dwarves on the Discovery channel?!! WTF is the world coming to. One of the best bands to see live IMO.
All in all it was a pretty good show. The ride came out real sweet. Now JJ just needs to bring it to Bonneville this year....
Pretty cool show.......But that tank on the salt will be BRIGHT. It was kind of cool to see it all come together in a week. Alot of experience working together. And the "punk" band. Chris Nelson Kansas See you on the Salt......... BobK, If you read this Jen is Faxing you on Tues. with info.
140 is not bad for the first couple trips IMO, especially with all the problems with the motor. I liked the paintjob better in the concept drawing. It looks waaay too ****ing cheesy with the WCC logo and 10,000 stickers all over it. Wheels and tires don't help it. The build was one of the best ones yet, second to the '54. If they had time to polish the body and apply all the **** to side, I'd think they could have spent the time better making some p***es to ENSURE that it broke 200 for TV. But that's TV I guess. Looking forward to next week.
That tank brings back fond memories of my time in the good old USN, ***igned to VF114 on the ****ty Kitty. We had to hump those belly tanks up to the bottom of the F4 jet by hand to get them mounted. Ocasionally during a de-mount, a tank would get released when it was full of fuel. This would cause a chinese fire drill and lots of foul language from the Maintenance Control Chief. (And a good time was had by all!) pigpen
Here's three more pic's showing the tank in use. Pic #3 shows how the gas gets into the tank in flight. One of our pilots in VF126 got his nickname by blowing one of these off by mistake into a farmers field. Call sign "Tank" for the rest of his life!. pigpen
I read about this recently. Wasn't the tank an old F4 Phantom II tank or something? It's definitely not off a P-38! Edit: haha, well, I see I was correct. Maybe next time I'll read the whole post first!
