Projects Anyone know the proper color/finish for a 40 standard steering wheel

Looking to restore my 40 standard wheel

 

My 40 standard had a black steering wheel, can't tell you what the finish was, dull black now, I wasn't there when it was new, might of been shiny black!

 

This is a NOS wheel , with factory finish that I put in my '32 .........

 

Yea, wasn't sure if there's a way to refinish that backlite stuff. I've heard metal polish, but there are some gouges in mine
