55 Chevy rockers: Who's got a good repop?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Curly, Oct 24, 2010.

  1. I know it is a question with many answers so let me clarify.

I have to replace inner and outer rockers on a '55 Pontiac. Luckily they are the same as a '55 Chevy. I want a good quality rocker. This will be a driver, not a show car. I've seen some NASTY import stuff (in the s**** pile in my garage). I also know that there are a few manufacturers and MANY suppliers. I have seen the same exact product with a wide range of prices due to the supplier mark-up.

Who out there makes a good reproduction rocker and who sells them at a great price?

I do not want a mediocre rocker at a fantastic price.
I do not need a fantastic rocker at an outrageous price either.

I need something that will fit right with minimal rework so I don't buy 14 sets of rockers before I get something I like.

    After rockers comes floorpans next.

    Thanks in advance.

Try www.cl***icchevy.com Thats Eckler's website. They have repops. They even have 2 different panels, "good quality" or "excellent quality". In the catalog they say the good quality will need some additional fitting or tweaking. the excellent quality is a perfect match and wont need to much work.

Curly, I bought the ones off egay. I didn't want to dump a bunch of money for overpriced rockers either. The old saying you get what you pay for applies here also. The got the outer rockers on for now, the top is not complete and doesn't include the top flange that meets the floor pan, as long as that area is ok than no problems. It will be under the sill plate anyway. I havn't got to the inners yet.

I followed this post to help me along

I got a p***enger outer for my 57 Pontiac from Rocker King. He advertises in Hemmings and was really knowledgable when I called. He has this web page, http://my.execpc.com/~sonoma/ ,but you may be better off just calling. Quick service, good price, good product would use him again.

The company making the domestic rockers is EMI. They are sold many outlets. I have used them several times and found that they need to be reshape (especially the p***enger side) to fit correctly. If u do not fix them, u will have a poor fit. The imported parts being offered (the ones with theblack finish) by many vendors are exact replica of the factory parts. While I have not had a chance to use them yet they would be my choice. I have found Ecklers to be overpriced, higher shipping costs, and poor customer service at times. I have used Resto World and had good experience.

    Good luck
