Really great pictures. I forgot my camera. Great picture of my 53 Cadillac and nice job of not getting the porta-john . It was one of the nicest car shows that I have been to.
Slim, nice pix bro, what a hip event. The 57 Olds p. u. is cool as are a ton of other images seen here, kinda swell to observe this great car-ness from my desk chair. Many Thanx! ~Sololobo~
MY VOTE for the official H.A.M.B. photographer...the one and only SLIM PICKENS. thanks for the shots slim.....your Boy in da'Hood Ralphy
slim is the man for taking great pic`s.were lucky to have a photo guy for people who couldn`t make it.super job as always.
Thanks for the kind words, you guys. But I just go to have a good time and meet the creative masters of these cars. ****, I aint been west of Detroit to cover a show yet. HAHA. I am working on saving up for Salina, Kansas next year. I am fortunate to have a killer girl friend who digs the shows as much I do. Slim
Thanks again for the great pics Slim! Believe it or not, some of the cars are driven by non Hambers or those who don't frequent the site. I send your pics of their rides to them to show what they are missing. See? Your pics do even more than you might have known.........
Great pics! What a cool show, especially inside. That black Model A Coupe with the "W" motor rules! The green '33 with flames is bad***!!
This is such a cool old survivor. Notice the Delco spiral shocks from the 60s. He cut away most of the baking plate mounting flanges on the spindles before they were chromed to lighten them. The spring perches were original 32s also. They still had the shock link balls.
Does anyone recognize the '57 Olds El Camino from back in the day? There was some indication that it came from California to the east , and may have been a shop truck. **** Dean's name was mentioned, but there is no information to validate this lead. Anyone remebering seeing this one? Thanks, Jay
Great pic's, thanks for posting! Had a good time hangin' with my CC brothers and some of the VA HAMB that made the show.
Jay- Here's what the owner told me he knew about the car- The car was originally a '57 olds wagon, believed to have been built by **** Dean around 1960. It originally had a J-2 motor in it and was painted red. From what he knew the guy who had it built was possibly in the military and brought it from the west coast up to the North Atlantic region- I'm pretty sure he said M***achusetts but I'm not 100% sure on that. Aside from that he did not know much about the car's history- but perhaps someone else on here may know more? Anyways, it was a great show Saturday- The cars the Mike and all you guys from the Rusty Nuts get out for that show never cease to amaze me every year. Now I can't wait for Jalopyrama 2011!
Waking up to eye candy like this is better that a cup of hot coffee. So many cars and so little time to absorb them all! This is a great coverage Slim and thanks for all your effort to bring them to the Hamb site. No doubt about it its the people here that makes this site so far ahead of any thing else on the internet. Again thank you for these awesome pictures.
Slim...GREAT photo coverage of a FANTASTIC SHOW. Mike and his crew did a hell of a job. The event T-Shirts that came in the custom paint cans are really special and will be real souvenirs to keep. I wish I could have driven my car with trailer boat, but family obligations limited me to just spectating this year. GREAT CARS, GREAT WEATHER, GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT FOOD...what more could you ask for?
