You don't race that fairlane do ya.......Cool car but it ain't no "g***er." You woulda seen that thing on the cover of Car Craft in 1981.
here is some aussie stuff from the nostalgia drags at willowbank http://s1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee460/letterbox999/Nostalgia Drags/
Maybe he should have requested pics of ( wagons that look like g***er wannnabees but are really street freaks) come on guys lighten up. He just asked for PICTURES not a pissin contest as to the correct definition of a g***er. .
Not sure of this ones cl***ification but its just cool in my opinion whatever it would be considered.
Is it over yet ? I get a bit nevous an pick my nose er eye when people start going crazy ! Where are the long roof g***er pictures ? Am I in the wrong place agian ? Wait ! Im a fng on the HAMB right ? Least I don't act like one ! DWW56
thats what i think every time i see it ..if you jack the car up in the *** and have the tires hanging out then its street freak .mine as well have a 4x4 .
Yea i do race it from time to time. I have a fairlane station wagon im gonna build.I was just looking for some pic's to get some ideas with."G***er" is the direction i was going with the car.
Seems like everyone is hung up on the definitions of g***ers, I am too. Tube axle/stock suspension, manual/automatic transmission, stance, on and on and on. All of that makes a difference, but the thing that probably makes or breaks it for me is.............................................................................................track time. /G is a cl*** for racing. It's for cars that are RACED. I don't care if it's a purpose built racecar or a street car that is campaigned on weekends, it sees track time. If it doesn't don't call it a G***er, it's a Street Freak or_____________________ (you fill in the blank). Now to keep the post on track, anyone have a picture of Paul Longenecker's 60 model Pontiac wagon with the injector tubes sticking through the hood? He campaigned it before he went Top Fuel racing. Ya this may or may not be a "G***ER" but hell this is one of the best lookin wagons out there right now.
I dont think the term street freak came about until the 70's... I'm sure one of you will correct me if I'm wrong.
Except 1) there were more Real G***ers with stock type front suspension than straight axles 2) there were more non blown gas cl***es than blown gas 3) a rarity a**** real g***ers (even though it can look cool) 4) Tons were automatics And YES I own a real g***er, national record holder for a short period in 1970 in B/Gas And while your Fairlane is interesting, it is definitely more street freak than g***er at this point.
I just wanted a V8 wagon with a 4 speed to go fast in. My Chevy II has the stock front suspension. I hesitate with the idea of a straight axle conversion. I worry about messing up the proportions and stepping towards street freak. The car has a built 283. It will be getting a set of fender-well headers to replace the full length headers with cut outs for race day.
????really????? Why ????? Its a neat lookin wagon "TO ME" Im just asking but whats OFFENSIVE about it.
