The clear on my mag's started to lift I noticed yesterday and I wanted to ask if there is any special prep to strip them. I am familiar w/ the jasco/air craft liquid paint strippers but was not sure if those would effect the magnesium at all.

I would be really hesitant to use anything that harsh on a softer metal. I have no experience with real mag, but for aluminum I always use Citri-Strip (available from Home Depot). It works well, though it does sometimes require more than one application. I like it for aluminum because it isn't too harsh (no etching). I did a bellhousing with it recently, and it came out great.

I have never used the citri-strip but considered that.

Everyone I've asked does not know for sure what would happen w/ other stuff.

Would be nice if I had a large soda booth and use that...

Why not just use laquer thinner? it disolves most everything except powder coat.

Do you know what the clear is?
