Looks like you could comfortably stick a V12 in that baby. Cool car. Best of luck with it!

Thanks. I love working on old stuff too. I lack some skills here and there but I'll get buy. I LOVE (and like owning) hot rod history. It just seems to be a richer experience. I can always use more help though. Michael is gold to have around.

Me too. I'll stick with the Rocket if it fits the theme or I have a few flatheads I could use. I like the "Rocket/Hemi" theme and because these cars will be a matched pair (in style and paint) I think OHV will work.

Can anyone ID the Rocket motor and year/cubic inch from site? Some of the new photos in the bove post might give you a bigger better look.

I have a 337 Lincoln? lol Rocket or Flathead are where I'm leaning at the moment.

You can say that again! And to top it off..... He's genuinely keen to help a Rodder out. He's just scoped out an 'A' Frame for me..... We'll see what eventuates.

Bill, what can I say, you've once again invited some rich Hot Rodding History to Australia and am very much looking forward to this Rod hitting our Adelaide streets!

Awsome Rod and I love the Channelling job on it too!

    Super Cool Rod.

And BTW, You mentioned you'd love to have the Coupe and this thing crusing side-by-side together........... Can you see what I'm getting at???:D

    HC.

Congrats, that car is too cool & in my opinion should be restored to resemble what it looks like now without changing the style too much.
If they are the origional rocker covers on it could be a 324 with 303 plug covers attached, but we need numbers to be 100%. If the motor is ok I would stick with it for cool factor. I have a few spare rocket parts if you get stuck, i am in Sydney.
Good luck with the build. Cheers Charlie.

Nice Roadster! I'm especially keen on it being a bit of Hawaii Hot Rod history. Not a lot of those OG builds left around here - most eaten by rust. I have a friend who is a virtual walking encyclopedia of all things Custom and Hot Rod built in Hawaii during the fifties and sixties. I'll try to show him these pics and see if it rings any bells. Most of his knowledge is Oahu based though. From what I've seen, those smoothed in rear fenders were pretty common for the Hot Rod builds around here for some reason.

Too bad I didn't have the money to be able to bring her back home! Good luck on your build/resto.

Yes Alex, I'll fling you the keys if you help me work on it. No sparks no keys. I never thought I'd see the day I'd own two old channeled rods.

Not sure if we'll ever see them on Adelaide roads though...not unless they change the law. I'll have to change state (or country) if I want to drive these cars (which I certainly want to do - daily!).

This is what I also think. Historic hot rods aren't expensive...they're priceless and if I'm the only one who sees and likes them I'll be a happy man.

Thanks Charlie! I'll need some help from those more knowledgable for sure. Half the fun is talking about and getting help for these cars. If I had to say which I enjoy most - rodders or rods I'd have to say it's 50/50 (most of the time).

That would be cool! If you can find anything out about this car I would be stoked and very grateful.

Can't wait to hear it fire up! Building to me is just as much fun as driving or getting a thumbs up. With the blue coupe all I can do is maintain it but this will require my skills, blood and swearing to come to life again...which it will.

If that is the original intake and side-draft (back-draft?)carb, the Olds is a '49-'51 303.
Have fun with a cool project!

Will do. If I am able to come up with any info I'll PM you. Not sure when I'll see my buddy next, but will try to show him pics. He's so old school, he doesn't have a computer so I can't just forward him this thread. Good luck with the work.

    Aloha, Jason.

Thanks. Trying to decide if I should keep the Olds or use one of the flatheads.

Keep the Olds. Lose that grill shell. Damn that's ugly.

Yeah, makes my eyebrows crooked as well. Certainly one of a kind though. No one would ever mistake that nose! But I'm yet to "feel" it fully yet personally.
