If you knew him and want to celebrate his life....and you live around the area.....then get in your ride and grab the bride. A little fun outing in honor of Delbert Wison.... contact Flat Top Bob
Thanks for posting this Jeff. if I weren't so far away I'd gladly attend. Delbert was just a really neat guy. He drove me 150 miles to get a carburetor to fix my '34 Vicky when I was stranded in Childress a couple of years ago and wouldn't take a penny for it - that's Delbert for you.
Sounds like he was a good guy. If you don't mind, how about a little more info. for those of us who didn't know him?
Hey Jeff I am looking at flights to Amarillo....that Desoto is calling!!!!!!! I may be able to attend! Delbert was so happy to win some your Art that night at Bob's....
I had the good fortune of meeting Delbert in April of this year. Here is a photo of him (and me) sitting in his shop. The shop is an old ford dealership. RIP Delbert.
R.I.P. Delbert! I never had the fortune of meeting him, but from the sounds of it, he was a big- hearted guy and the hot rod world will always feel a loss when people of his caliber p*** on!
My dad had planned on being there, but my mom is down with alzheimers and the trip just can't happen...My dad sold Delbert his first set of mag wheels, and they had had known each other for years. Not a finer man in the world. He will be missed.
I can't make it, either, but would like to reemphasize Delbert's position as a really good guy. RIP. Hope y'all that make the event do it up right.
Well, the video doesn't work on my computer, but maybe it will on yours. Larry T http://www.strikeproductions.com/delbert_wilson.html
That video sure is a very nice tribute to a man who made his time on earth count for something good. Ya did good Delbert.
a Couple More of my two favorites. I think that I spent a good 30 minutes looking at the 2 coupes. These are the real deal..if you appreciate true 50's and 60's hot rods....
Thanks for posting Caddy-O, there's a very soft spot in my heart for Delbert and I was thinking about him on Saturday, how much he helped me and what a great guy he was.
If you'll look at the tags on the two 32 5 window coupes, one of them is 1959 and the other one 1960. That's the way they were the first time I met Delbert and he showed us his "stuff" in 1972. I think that's what was on them when he parked the cars. If I remember correctly, one of the 32s has a Studebaker V-8 in it. I still smile when I think about him talking about "selling" his bubble top 409 car. You couldn't ask to meet a better person. RIP Larry T
