Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Arrowood Rod & Kustom, Oct 5, 2010.

  1. looking for some pictures of some '55/'56 Buick's with custom grilles..saw this one on a thread last night and loved it so figured I'd look and see what else people have done..that looks to be a possibly a Desoto grille? but I could be way off so let me know what it is and if you have any more picts of that car or any other cool ones!

Can't see it clearly enuff, but if it's a Desoto, it appears to be upside down...however, it could be bumper guards placed nicely...would like to see a better front shot...

Early Corvette grilles mounted to the stock mesh background look great on '55s. I'll try to find a photo and scan it later today.

Also, four bullets mounted in the stock holes in the stock background also looks good in '55s. Again, I'll try to find and scan photos later on.

I've also seen a club plaque mounted in the middle of the stock mesh with the outer holes drilled out to match the rest of the background. This also looks very good.

    :)

Was that your car at Fat Hill in Cerro Gordo this summer? Nice car and loved the grill. Had to take a couple of photos for myself.

That's an Australian DeSoto grille, different than the ones we have here.

  13. keep em coming, some really cool grilles so far...I'm debating on using the teeth from a 1954 Chevy Belair grille in the middle and make it somewhat similar to Collin Gowers car

****py pic of the grill on my '55 Special, but I'm in the middle of doing a brake job and couldn't get a better angle.

I've got, as I recall, around 150 bullet-shaped drawer pulls on the stock grill..........
