Today after school I get to my dads shop for work. Well I asked him what he wanted me to do and he said hook the car trailor up we got to go get a customers car. So I do as i'm told and hook it up. Well were riding down the road ,and he tells me to turn off onto this road. Hey, this is that road that tha A coupe we've been tring to buy is on.hmm He tells me turn into the next driveway holy **** this the house its at I can see the A sitting out under the guys shed and daddy says back up to that car their HOLY ****!!! He bought it for me. It's in pretty good shape it needs the usual patch work but we got all the patch pannels with it. It's goin to have a flathead with aluminum heads and 3x2's ,35 wires, dropped axle in the front and 36 rearend, and thats about all I have planed for it at the moment. First I got to pay pops back. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow of it on here.
" I was wondering, where is THEM Texas" I think it is about 3 miles from SNOOK Texas. Now comes the wait to see if anybody else knows the next line. BB
Congradulations. It looks like a really good start. When I bought the body for my coupe, it was all in pieces in a pile, missing the decklid and windshield frame, and one door was trashed. I brought home my whole body except the cowl and one door that was still attached, inside my '64 Falcon hardtop! Keep us all posted on the buildup.
Congratulations on your car. An A is a great place to start. The sites below offer a ton of information, free catalogues and good parts and service for Model A stuff. www.macsautoparts.com www.brattons.com www.mikes-afordable.com
Boy, does this hit a familiar note!! I am almost 58 now but I can remember when I was 14 or 15 and I didnt even have a learners permit, but I had my eye on this mossy green straight arrow stock 37 ford coupe that had been sitting out in front of this old guys house for quite a while in a town about 12 miles away...no for sale sign or anything..I kept pesterin' dad about getting him to stop by and getting a good look at that coupe. After a few trys to talk him into it he agreed one saturday to drive up there and have a look...We got there and I was full of anticipation. The car still had mechanical brakes, but was the deluxe model and very complete... (2 wipers, not one; radio, glove box clock, spare, perfect grille, paint that would look good if it were polished, complete interior, new 16" tires...and a full race flatty with alum. heads, 3 carbs, headers. It did not run that day as there was no battery in the car. The next thing I know we are leaving....without the car. Disappointed, i sulked the rest of the day and on into the week....until thursday. I came home from school that day while dreaming up ways to get that car outa the clutches of that old guy.. and there in the driveway sat that 37 coupe. My heart jumped outa my body...I ran up to the car...opened and shut all the doors and the trunk and the hood...sat in it pretending to drive it...then my dad came up to the car and says, "son, it was just too good of a car and too good of a deal to p*** up; I hope you will take good care of it...and I hope ya like it." How do you thank an action like that?? My dad had taken the time from his busy body shop stuff to con a friend to help him tow that coupe home before I got home from school so it would come as a surprise to me. I will never forget that moment.....as I am sure you wont...with YOUR COUPE. Having a dad who thinks about his son and helps him along the way is the best friend a son can have. Congratulations!
Good score ,,, see dads are great guys ,, sometimes ,, at least that is what my kids say ..lol .......... just build it ,, you will like it ,, JEFF
