Yep that one looks just right as far as the section goes. I think the reason a lot of them don't look right when they are sectioned is that the builder takes all of the shoebox Ford look out of them when he customizes the car.

For me there are only certain body styles that can pull of a section job,the 36 ford pictured is one of them, the 56 ford is another, for me the shoeboxes sectioned, just doesnt do it.It makes them flat looking with a fish faced front end look.Keeping them stock or chopped is the best for me,just my 2 cents. But i do recognise the huge amount of skill and work that goes into a section.

  3. Very kool section job. I wish I had half this guys ability to do metal work.

I lurk way more than I post, but I have been spending a lot more time on some metalshaping sites. Haven't been out and about too much either, trying to pay off some bills. :D

  6. iv always been curious, how do you section a car?
like im sure it depends on the car im sure, but is the section usually take out on the bottom? or where is it determined where to make cuts?
sorry guys i know litteraly nothing about sectioning.

Andrew (49super6) your 55 is soo cool its almost rediculous!

  9. ohhh i see redbaron.
so it all just depends on the flatest area of the car.

that pretty much answers it. looking at the pictures helped out too.

now i know roughly how its done!

Those headlights on Bodybag suck balls. Other than that....Damn! Cool car.

  11. I like the headlights because it gives a european look to the car. The grille is perfect.

Heres pics of my 49 Dodge Wayfarer, sectioned and chopped, one current pic and another one photoshoped. Haven't done much with it this summer, I have 3 other projects going on. Heres a link to the build thread here on the HAMB. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=430749

Funny - they don´t look right to me until they are sectioned. :D
They´re a tad too deep in the body from stock IMHO.

  18. A local car guy named "Shep" who used to be kinda big around here in the 70s asked me if I wanted in on sectioning a 56 Chevy around 1980. He said he liked them because it made the roof stand high and gave it a European look like the cars in London. If you look at them I think he is correct. I just didn't feel like getting involved in that size of a job.

heres a 38 chevy sectioned I believe 3 inches , I see it at the local cruises sometimes. It seems real low when you stand next to it and it takes you a while to figure out its sectioned.

How bout a 'wedge' section on a Shoebox Ford? They always looked thin to me, even stock, at the ass end.
Btw....that ElCamino proves cool and ElCamino can exist in the same sentence.
