I dropped in while I was in Dallas on business. Pretty good show but I thought it would be bigger. That T roadster with the yellow wires is historically significant. It was built by Wieand in 1936!! Its not exactly as it was in '36 but very close. Buffalo wires, original body, interior etc. Nice older gent that owns it. Gave me the whole run down on it. The Gas Monkey guy is pretty cool. Let me sit in the chopped, channeled A. I am 6'2" and I fit in it ok. I wouldn't take it across country but would drive it in any city at the drop of a hat.
If you did, you would die. that thing is a death trap. The motor rocks about 6" when you rev it. The deck lid fly's off, No visibility, etc.
He is a really nice guy....I got the story too. The car looks legit! Says he's got all the Weiand parts and the original 4-cylinder at his place. It's got model A internals inside a model T rear end housing, converted to open drive. The transmission is a C4. The front end is parallel leafs, Chevy style. Told me it was better for dirt track racing than a transverse leaf, as it didn't have as much roll. "They called 'em tri-leafs!" he said. ......Neat. You can see the front end of Merc's Merc in this shot too.
THAT'S SOME FUNNY ****!!! The whole thing. Thanks alot Rashy, we'll never live that down now! Hey, Fidge the model display was kool. I like the Limelighter. Oh!, and who was the model for the tiny *****? He must be froM THEM, Tx. Gay enuff to not do it again, huh? Come on OTTO, you dominated the RAT ROD cl***! I really wish I could have gone, but since the ole GOLD CHAIN broke I had to stick around the shop and work on my own ride. Any pics of the X fleetline at the show? I think the fact that you were crammed in with the Vipers is absolutely hilarious. Byron, did you set that up?
The only thing better than seein Cooder from Dukes of hazard was the Themers! Hears a pic of the T. Ivo and the Scorpion back in the day
If it were up to me that 4banger'd be right back in there. I don't get why you'd show it as Weiand's car sans Weiand's drivetrain, but that's just me.
