Just finishing up this 65 for my brother, I just paint in a open shop with a paint suit on, I only paint 4-5 cars a year I would get a booth if I was doing it for a living.

  11. I've done quite a few in my garage. My 32 Chevy is the most recent.
I make a enclosure with vinyl and use fans for ventilation. It's also important to use an approved respirator for the material you are using.

Did the dash and trim of my 52 in the garage last year before the Roundup. Gonna come back with some green candy over it all (and the rest of the car) eventually. If you look close in the first pic you can see my bro in the haze. I think we put a little flake on every car that drove down my street that day !! :D

Well, nobody said it had to be a car.......

The airplane was done with butrayte dope (yep, it's called 'dope') on the fabric surfaces and plain old enamel on the fiberglass and metal. And yes, it was done in my garage after taking the wings off.

I also painted a '69 Corvette with acrylic laquer which came out great

  19. Bathcollector is that what they mean when they say spray and bake, lol.

    Baked in the sun.:)

Ive done heaps of paint jobs in the shed at home,no problem except for the dust factor.
Its really hard to get no dust on it at home, not quite the same as a Spray Booth.Use a tack rag just prior to painting. It helps as it picks up any little bits of dust and it sticks to this slightly sticky rag, cool.

Remember to sweep the gun with your body keeoing the nozzle the same distance from the surface.

Newspaper makes a poor substitution for masking paper.

Most dirt in paint comes from the painter's clothing(change clothes after sanding before painting)

The real key to a great looking job is prepration. Use a guide coat often
When you think you are ready, check again..

It is obvious that Flamedabone knows great paint terchniques

this is my dads vette i did for him. made the booth out of pvc pipes then covered it with plastic used heater filters on the exhaust side and AC filters on the intake side. also got a paint booth fan off a industrial building that was not being used and they wanted it removed. worked out great, no bugs or debris. the down side is you get taped in until the job is done.

Not as nice as other posted, but still painted in a garage. Base painted buy someone else and flames by me. First time in a while. Wet the floor down and left the door open.
