My story begins 3 days ago when I was at work minding my own business when my cell phone rang. It was my pal Bobwop (the Jefferson Giant) from Wisconsin ......"what are you doing tonight after work?" -- I answered: "nothing why?" Bob had found a Henry J drag car for sale here in Kansas and needed me to go check it out and secure the purchase before it got sold to someone else. So off I went that night and put money down on the car after checking it out. It is a non rusty 52 coupe with straight axle, tilt front, roll cage, narrowed 9 inch rear, plexi gl*** windows, aluminum floor pans, spun aluminum fuel cell, and etc. It was Bob's lucky day. He completed payment by wire transfer the next day and today (Saturday) me and my trusty sidekick Cuzzindeke brought it home. <center>

Looks right except for the wheels on the front. And it looks like a lot of fun.

Whoever radiused those rear wheelwells must have had in mind to put tractor tires on it for the winter. Not a big problem but as usual it's easier to take metal out than it is to put it back in. Looks like a nice car and if the price was right a lot of hard work has been done..

Sweet! I'm not a big fan of yellow, but it's ok I guess.

What are the plans for it?

thanks for running that down for me, Paul!

I like your comment about **** not liking yellow cars. Perhaps you should post a photo of his little hotrod.

I doubt a color change will happen, unless we discover another color beneath the yellow. Why mess with history?

We have some nice 30" slicks to fill up those wheel openings. High-winding 301 on hand, too. Debating over a B&M hydro, Clutch Turbo, Powerglide or four speed.

It is great that the roll cage is already in place. It takes a lot of time and money to install one. I don't plan to make it so fast that it needs much for safety equipment.

All that matters is that it is faster than Hotrodeo's scary little Monster J.

    Hey Paul..
Your friend got a great buy there... Looks like there is a panel that is missing under the door sill, but wow...what a buy!.. Will be interesting to see it run someday on the strip..

My hot rod club, up in Washington, Kansas, back in the early 60s, had a Willis coupe, that had a Pontiac 389 in it.. couldn't get much traction, due to the fact we needed new slicks..but it was fun! Think it ended up being sold off, due to lack of money by the club... here is a 1964 photo..

See you again soon...duane (NM Sandrail)

It's amazing how two cars that many miles away look so simular,,this one belongs to my pal Steve.

I think the darker blue looks better.HRP

Wow---that's amazing. Very close to same. Bob's blue car was built by a friend named Steve Rice from WI.

    awesome.

Had the blue Henry J and the 56 Chevy at the track yesterday. Both ran right at 12.15 and we were running into a 30mph headwind. They will each dip into the 11's under good conditions.

The last race of the day, we raced each other. The difference at the stripe was .004 seconds. What a blast.

  29. So what's up with all this anti yellow race car talk?

Neat Henry-J Paul & Bob...even if it doesn't have any fibergl*** components.
