  2. Like Chris said,
Look all around the rotted wood that may have fallen off, the little metal connectors, fasteners or whatever are woody only, and cost a grip if you need to buy them.

I'd say get it..whats the worse that could happen? You sell it and make some good cash?

    Looks like a win-win situation.

'51 is the last year for (real) Ford woodies, so it's a keeper. These guys are right about the parts and pieces, clips and brackets. Without 'em, these cars get REAL expensive to put together. Rick Mack (http://www.rickmack.com) specializes in the wood for this body -- but they've all got to be FIT for the wood to go together right. Even with these shoeboxes, each body is a little different. Woodies, unless they're from Nick Alexander, are a little soft right now, and these 49 - 51 Fords have always been a little cheaper than the full-wood bodied cars -- but they're still worth way more than coupes or sedans. The upside is that they're way more quite and comfortable than the earlier woodies. For $35 you can join the National Woodie Club and stay on top of parts and prices.

Its definately getting pulled out, even from the start. I just didnt know if it was worth anything to anyone out there or if all it was good for was yard art. But a little extra cash to put towards the 50 is always better, so yes it definately is a win-win!

Edit: I will probably have to come back in the summer to look for any odd end parts. This snow isnt going away for another month.

Snows gone, but work picked up real quick so I havent had much spare time to get to any side stuff. Once I get some spare time Ill probably head out with a chainsaw and made a trail to get the truck back there. I still have to help a friend pull out a 30's International Panel truck, but thatll be a good weekends project.

I've had a '49 and a '51 Ford woodie. Parts are available. The unique only to woodie parts are scarce and highly sought after. Even if you don't restore/rod it, you might consider selling it whole, to someone who will. If you decide to part it out, you will do okay monetarily. Finished cars bring decent dollars. Woodies are cool.

First, say Hi to Sarah and the whole family from SoCal.

Next did you get it out yet?
If not I suggest take it out piece by piece, it looks like a parts car anyway.
    Give us an update...

I'd love to find me one of those, even in that condition. Have you guys tried a parcel search to see about a registered tax payer on the property, and a phone number?

Hey! That's our car in the 'finished' pic!!!! I've seem worse cars come back but it doesn't happen overnight. Here are pics from July '98 when we bought it, June of '04 at Woodies on the Wharf in Santa Cruz and the last from May of '06 when it was finished.

Contact me if you have any questions.

    Did you ever get it?

  16. Mod Squad vehicle! My father bought one for $5 at a auction at Valpo Indiana in 1959. The wood was almost all gone and it was a rust bucket. 239 overdrive. He drove it weekly back and forth between Indiana and Arkansas until 1964. The rear end locked up near Momence Ill. and he blew the Transmission. So It got towed. He hitchhiked to Indiana and bought a new 64 chevy pickup at Baker Chev in Gary Ind.

  17. My dads looked like woodsters first picture except his had huge rusty holes in it. I don't know what the original color was. Just surface rust color.
