My 15 minutes of fame: Got my car in R&C

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Rex Schimmer, Oct 27, 2010.

  1. I wouldn't call it luck. I just read it myself. It sounds like you worked to get your recognition, ...... and someone felt you DESERVED it. I happen to agree with them.

    Congratulations Sir.

    Rockey,
Really planned to be at the BBQ but looked at the weather and just couldn't get my *** in gear. Steve said it was great so I screwed up again!

Still want to do the cage in your Nash B'ville car

Congrats on the feature, it definitely caught my eye because I'm planning on running a Zetec/T5 combo as well. (But I've got dual sidedrafts for mine) Did you use the Quad4Rods bell housing or come up with something on your own to mate them together?

    Jax2A,
I think that I may have gotten the very first bellhousing that John made, it needed to have a couple of holes redone to fit my application but it has been perfect since then. Quad4Rods suggests that you use an internal hydraulic cylinder for the throwout bearing but I used the pivot bolt and the arm from a 2.3 engine and cut a hole in the side of the bellhousing and used an external cylinder for the clutch actuation, never have had a problem with it. My engine was a standard shift so it had a flywheel so I use the stock Ford pressure plate and a Centerforce disc that has the spline for the T5. Because my car is so light I am planning to try a 8.5 lb flywheel which is a lot less than the 24 pounder that is on it now. Quad4Rods has a conversion for the ignition that eliminates the need for the Ford electronics. Since my car has electronic fuel injection the ECU I am using does the ignition also.

Congratulations! Even though it was on the last page, I kept skipping ahead to look at all the pics all over again. That's one of those cars I want to get in and see how fast it will go - it looks like it's a LOT of fun! Nice job.

Cool ride. I thought that when I saw it at Bonneville a couple of years ago.
