Nope..a delivery made with the short 4 door doors will look awkward IMHO.. I'd either convert the car with the longer 2 door doors [to build a delivery] or leave it a 4 door. My belief is the model A through 32 ford 4 door sedans take the rodding treatment better than the 2 door sedans of the same years...love seeing a slammed, boxy sedan.
While you like the 2 door fronts and some like the 4 dr fronts keep in mind that on Poteets fantastic delivery Dave Lane shortened the doors I think 1.5 inchs and moved the B pillar ahead a like amount. (see Fastlane Rod Shops web site for details) I had Kemp do my 2 door conversion but I like the stock look.
I've done a couple of chevies. A 27 abd a 28 both 2 doors. I think your 4 door would be a cool project, and I like the shorter front doors.
This is your only hope for success. Keeping the stock-length front doors from the Fordor will result in some morphodite-looking "attempt" at a delivery that will fool absolutely NO ONE. JH

It's not like trying to fool someone with many custom bodies. I look at it like coming up with new body styles that just look great if it comes out in proportion....like the 34 Plymouth pic. Many "other brands" had deliveries with longer back bodies compared to Ford (and with short front doors) and they look good. too. Short or long, it's all in the eye of a talented builder. IMO...and it's fun to create
I wanted a 4 door and spent 5 years looking before I found one that I wanted to buy. I thought everyone s****ped the 4 door body and put a roadster body on the ch***is. Maybe they just all got turned into sedan deliveries. Charlie Stephens
The sedan delivery I posted pics of uses the stock length Fordor doors. Does it look like some morphodite-looking "attempt"????
We're all en***led to our opinion right? The doors on the unchopped, red '33/'34 look ridiculously short to me. That car defines the "morphodite" I was talking about. Even if Ford himself made it that way, it doesn't look right. The Plymouth looks good and would also benefit from doors that were 2" longer IMHO. The purple delivery comes close. The chop saves it & helps with the proportions. Then the purple paint kills it all over again. I HATE purple cars. Use stock length Fordor doors on a Deuce deilvery &, I promise you, it will look homemade. To each his own though. JH
we all have an opinion,,and we all have a rear end and this is the Hamb and we are talking about hot rods! I agree with JH about the longer doors,,I just think they look better in proportion and help break up the long slab side,,and having had a friend that owned a real deal 32 sedan delivery and me owning a 32 4 door I know how hard it is for a guy with granddaddy long legs to get in and out of a car with short doors verses the longer sedan delivery doors. It's all in what you want,,,just build it and prove to the Hamb community that your vision of a delivery looks good! HRP
True everyone has an Opinion. Personally I hate the proportions of the stock Sedan Delivery the doors look far too long and out of place. I think Ford ****ed up and realised they needed a Sedan delivery for '32, "oh we will just enclose the Tudor back windows and put in a rear access door, that'll do". They fixed the problem in '33. I did some photoshopping to fix the problem as I see it.
I like the stock look but your photo version is really right on, Back when these were built they weren't about comfort but how much you could haul!
In the 80's Barry Lobeck had a hiboy 32 sedan delivery that was similar proportions to what your planning on building. It looked very cool. I believe it was marroon with firestone dirt track rear tires. Can't wait to see some progress.
I'll stick to my arguement that Fordor front doors are too short on a delivery but I'm not totally inflexible. Jimmy B's photoshop above is decent. Doors still too short IMHO though. The doors on Poteet's delivery are shorter than stock but longer than Fordor doors & I will admit that it looks good. Utilitarian but not out of proportion. It's not my project though so what I think really doesn't matter anyway. JH
gotta agree with Harrison on this one. Four door doors are too short. My dad has a 34' delivery that he's had forever and I have always thought the doors look small. Me and Dave Lane have talked in length about this and we pretty much came to the conclusion that to make the proportions right on a 34' you would want to lengthen the doors and a real mild chop(maybe 1")
its been done lots of times. ive read several articals over the years on this but not sure if they were 2 or 4 door conversions. maybe a little of both. i think you should do it, aint any coming to mind locally, but im sure there are a few original ones around. good luck, get cutting.
Pretty cool that you used my 4-door for your photoshop experiment, and that I also have a sedan delivery Stimac
Forget it, fix the doormobile. Deliveries to me are like driving submarines around. Fold in all the extra work and you'll be crying in the garage soon. My 2 cents.
You are absolutely correct about the driving experience in a delivery. If the delivery was the only thing I had, it would go. It sure is *****en to look at, and gets lots of attention wherever it goes. Stimac
In my humble artistic opinion, the longer Tudor doors look better and will be easier for access. It's a lot more work but will be worth it.
There was a 32 Fordor conversion in Street Machine (U.K.) magazine in the 80's Your idea sounds good and the best option considering prices nowadays. Hennie
