I posted one in the thread about "prices are about to go up." and said it look like some of the details on the car were a bit too much...I was wrong...I went back and looked at it again today. It's a really cool car. I thought the spider web pattern was flow-jet cut out of br*** or copper...it's not, it's actually leather. Here are some more photos:

Man those rear tires look close to the body.. is it just the pic...

I like channeled cars but most look like they the fronts are sitting higher then the rear...It needs some rake

Yeah, I like reverse rakes, but it doesnt look good on *that* car.....

That's probably going to be the coolest episode yet... well, second.... to the woodchipper.

  6. Just imagine how much cooler the thing would look if it was 4" higher in the back than it is... hot rods are supposed to have RAKE gawdamnit!!

i don't know. i'm not impressed with the car or the bike. anyone with access to tools and money like jj should be able to turn out better ****. that motor is about as custom or period correct as a sears lawnmower. the bike just looks stupid and the pipes up yer *** only make it worse.

  9. Uh... I think the car was built in five days... which, in my book... uh, kicks ***.

Dude, that thing could be so much worse when you consider the source. At least it's not rolling on 22's. And really, it isnt very bad at all... the stance issue goes down to personal taste... and the only thing that bugs me about the engine is the plug wires. And they did have sears lawnmowers, and small block chevy's back in the day.

Man is that a clean body though....

I agree the gl*** is cool 'bag. The headlight bucket's look good too. Simple fix to raise the rear. Army Green would go well w/the wheel's. With hope the kid's will see this one, instead of 'Saw'.

i think it looks good. it doesnt have the usual polished aluminum maltese crosses all over it.

and it looks WAY better than the 'rat rod' boyd built.

and it was built in 5 days.

    couldve been alot worse.

it was built by a CREW of guys (supposedly all fabrication/customizing gurus) in 5 days with an unlimited budget and every tool known to mankind in the very heart of the custom car world with instant access to absolutely any part or material they could desire.

    it.....looks......like.....****......period.

    no style
    no creativity
    bad proportions
    sloppy fabrication

it looks like it was built in 5 days by a couple teenagers with a $1500 budget.
and the bike still sux too.
i'm sorry but i expect a hell of a lot more out of a builder before i start applauding

I like the details on the car. The use of leather and the gl***, but I'm not to fond of the stance. Looks like when it grows up it wants to be a g***er.

few quotes from a Nov/04 article about the build, which was built here http://www.hardcorpmotorsinc.com/home.html .

""Monster Garage," the Discovery Channel series James hosts out of Long Beach, Calif., isn't about building cars. That's what they do in Detroit and Stuttgart and Toyota City. "Garage" is about eviscerating vehicles, ripping them in half, hammering them, cutting them, chopping them, unscrewing them, and then rebuilding them. Rebuilding them as if they were jewelry; a latticed gold charm, perhaps. At the end of the day - actually, each project takes seven days - what's left isn't remotely what was. "

"James, - left the sunny climes of Southern California for the Bronx, specifically for the damp, dank environs of HardCorp Motors on Drake Street, to work their collective magic on the Model A, acquired by James from Kansas via New Jersey for the princely sum of $16,000, many times what it cost new."
"James hadn't yet decided whether to paint the Rat Rod a glossy black or keep the rusty olive drab. In fact, the rod in rust looked pretty formidable, its hardtop lowered, the ch***is only five inches above the ground, the chrome and red engine exposed"

    Cris, awesome pictures

Oh Gawd... I am sure if someone on this board had built the ****ing thing in their garage, there would be ooh's and ah's. Thats what really chaps my ***. **** all you mother****ers and your stupid ***ed trendy ****ing at***udes! It's not cool now to like anything that Jesse James does, right? Let me guess, he sold out?

It is the same ******** time after time....Its the "kiss Germs ***" with the "hey all you newbies had better watch out" **** on the one hand, and the "I hate Jesse James" on the other. Can't you mother****ers see how ****ing rediculous you are being? You are like a bunch of Lemmings, just following the hottest, trendiest, hippest at***ude of the moment...You're no better than a bunch of highschool girls at the ****ing mall...

Lets see you do better with all the tools, the parts, and a team of 5 mother****ers in 5 days. I bet you car would look like a peice of ****.

I usually don't reply to the Jesse James / Monster Garage type posts because I try to avoid the **** storm on most occasions, but I am sick of the ****ing at***udes and the junior high hating...

I, for one, think the car is pretty decent. Yeah, I'd do things differently, and I woulnd't build a car like that myself, but it looks a hell of alot better than some of the ****ed up abortions people own here. I admit, I don't care much for Jesse James, or the bikes West Coast Choppers builds, but at least I can give credit where credit is due....

Well put Hudson. I dig it. Ive seen Dave Simard's other work up close and personal and I can tell you that you dont get any better than that guy. I look forward to watching the whole episode, and just because Jesse James is a huge success doesn't mean he isnt still a talent.

  27. It's cool. Not super keen on the engine choice. I wish I could afford a set of those dirt track rears. They're nice.

I find it offending that he was GOING for the style that we often times have to SETTLE for while we get Money.
