EvanJapan is the smiling fellow in the photos. He and his bride just purchased this nice 49 Ford Tudor formerly owned by tierod on here. Evan and his wife are in Japan due to her service in the Navy. We are grateful for their sacrifice and are pleased that they were able to buy this nice car and have Uncle Sam ship it to their home in Japan. Bill (tierod) took great care of his baby. It is still part of his avatar. I am sure he is going to be pleased that it will be a hit on the scene in Yokosuka. Evan can enjoy it immediately, as it is very well dialed-in due to the efforts of GMC Bubba and the care it was given by Bill. In fact, Evan is going to tool around his native Chicago for a couple of weeks, then drive to St. Louis to load his new car onto a barge for a ride down the Mighty Mississippi. At New Orleans, it will be loaded into a container for overseas shipment to the Orient. Thank you Bill, for giving me the chance to own your car. Thank you Evan and Christine for purchasing a cool car.
WOW BOBWOP, kool deal for him and you.. Good luck EvanJapan, you have one sweet car...glad it's going to a new home... I have missed it...
Thanks to both of you guys and GMC BUBBA for "hookin" it up as some would say I love my new baby. Just got back to chicago and the shoebox didn't even break a sweat.
that is the kind of news we love to hear, Evan. Have a fun time in Chitown. The weather sounds perfect for an old flatty.
Now that is what I call getting around!!! Evan, have a good time with that old shoebox, it's kind of like the old Hank Snow-Johnny Cash song "I've Been Everywhere". When "Hoover" on here owned it, he drove it everywhere the club went for two summers back in '05 and '06.
There have been many bonzi runs between that 'ol Ford and a '55 Desoto on the interstates here in Indiana
I got the car from Mike and sold it to Tie Rod . Nice car good to see it will still be loved ! Neat to know the owners etc.......Got a Bubbas distributor in it too......
Yeah now i just gotta figure out what's up with the fuel gauge. I topped it off and it said I had a little over half, turned it off and back on about 15 min. later and it said I had a quarter. I bet that gauge thinks it is hilarious.
Evanjapan: Enjoy the car, I certainly did..Bubba did "hook it up" for sure... You need to put the runz on the gauge...I put a new sender in..but did not get around to changing the voltage. I just filled it every 100 miles... Good luck, have fun, its a *****in' car...
Evan: there may be a runtz resistor in the spare parts box in the trunk. Otherwise, they are easy to get. Reduce the voltage from 12V to 6V.
Wow---how many of us have a customer fly in from Japan and buy a car? Very cool story. I loved that car and have seen it in person several times. Congrats to Evan.
I've never heard of send a car to New Orleans on a barge but think that is cool. Wouldn't it be neat if the riverboat captain was our own Hamber Cajun Kenny?
