wheel seal

hi im new to this. enjoy reading posts however i have a question where can i find front wheel seals for a fifty mercury. ive tried all the parts places no luck, would appricate any help. this fifty merc stuff is hard to find. thanks

 

you might try kanter auto they are in nj,i think 49-51 mercs stock used the same seal.hope this helps

 

Federal Mogul Volume 1, print date 1994 does not show a listing until 1955.
Older CR/SKF catalog doesn't show a listing either.
I wish I could give help from my catalogs at home.

 

see if there is a number on the old seals. the part stores may not have a listing but might be able to cross it. do this in person, parts guys sometimes don't put their best effort into a phone request, it's easy to say no don't have it.

 

took the seal with me to stores and they were very helpful but no luck thanks

 

any good auto parts store should be able to get you a seal by measuring the ID of the hub where it presses into and the OD of the part of the spindle it seals on

 

Try Mac's in New York........do a Google search for their website.......they have Ford/Merc stuff from about '28 up through at least the late 50's
