What kind of power would that V12 make?

Yes, very "Odd Rod" in its look.
I think it functions mostly as a display rack for the old GMC engine, an engine that few people were ever aware of. I didn't think of it during the Annapolis show, but it would have been interesting just to stand there and list all the assertions and guesses being made about the thing's identity!

I don't think I would want to try and drive it cross country but it sure has some nice workmanship in it and some interesting engineering done with it.
One place where workmanship and engineering trumps the weirdness of it.

And face it, most of us have looked at the parts and pieces we have laying around and thought "what if".

  5. excellent workmanship, cool to look at and a great conversation piece. Useless as a vehicle or a truck, but how many people can say they have a 700 cube V12 in their hot rod? :D

It looks like something from an episode of Speed Racer. I too am not real thrilled with the look but it's surely out of the box. Has it's own brand of kool.

I would drive it by your place just to piss you off :D Seriously though, I would drive it and I think its cool they built something original even though it's not very functional as a truck. Hell, it's not any less "Functional" than a roadster. just my .2 cents

What would really piss me off was knowing that I had to sneek out INTO the garage to to get my alumn. wheeled thingy out to load up and haul to anouther show. seriously tho, just my two cents, and differnt strokes for different folks. thats what seperates us all and makes the kool kids that much kooler, knowing the difference .

DIfferent strokes I guess but I wouldn't want to make a road trip in it . If different is his bag he hit it right on the head with this creation!

I think it might well need more structure to protect the engine from bending and cracking...I'm sure it is a massive casting, but really damn long and heavy with a weak middle.
Betcha the original mount system was heavier and more complicated than most rods.

Some of you are pretty narrow minded. A quite famous lakes streamliner started life as a ford commercial chassis with a second engine stuck in it. It was fenderless even! It ran with the conventional cab at bonneville a few times before they dropped the driver down below the frame rails and enclosed the whole thing in bodywork. Remember this? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=2868

I didn't find a pic in streamliner clothes, but I know it's out there...

  16. It would take some doing but with a little work it could have some ramps built up over the top of the cab and haul a little rod/dragster real fine.

It would probably want to get some helper bags and a different rear to do the job.

  17. Hmmm...mid-engine, 2 seat, V12...? Must be a Feararri Collorosso...?

Different for sure. Beats having to look at another Deuce Highboy. Shows a lot of creativity.

I'm with b-bop...deuce highboys are ok..if you like bellybuttons!! :) my hats off to anyone willing to think through what it takes to build something DIFFERENT..and it seems to me that 'truck' is just as traditional as an Ed Roth style creation ...IMHO

Not practical? O.K., It will be practical as soon as he puts the 5th wheel on it!
Put me in the like column. If I get to see it at a show sometime, I will be spending some time looking at it!

  24. The engine is backwards with a th400. Chain drive to reverse the power feeding a quick change. Pat drove it to the showdown from Baltimore. Got it all muddy and drove it home. The frame was cut with a waterjet and welded together, one piece front to back. It's an engineering masterpiece . The only thing it was built to haul is ASS.
