I have a chance to buy a pretty clean 36 Ford but am wondering what obstacles exist to using this as a basis for a street/rat rod? Is the big frame wider or is the rail just deeper? I am a noobie here so any help is appreciated. I have a big Ford motor and auto trans and want something "old" to put them in!
    Thanks Fred

  2. Welcome noob! What do you want when you are done? That frame is a monster! I suppose you could start with that. My 3t6 started life as a Hay hauler. I put the cab on a car chassis. The cab fit with no problemos. I would guess that alot of these type of rods start life as big trucks. good luck

  3. the frame is strong enough for big horse power. we built a '34 ford pickup from a tonner we shortened the frame . lots of metal to z the frame.would make a good traditional hot rod. not a street/rat rod
