Whats the best way to pick up a Model A Sedan body. I see picks of guys running straps thru the windows or around the outside of the body. Seems like it mite tend to bend things up a bit
That thing has been flexing ever since it was built. Don't sweat it! Those straps might just be people keeping the doors shut while they move the thing.
Hahaha... and lift with your legs, not your back! Whenever my A body get's moved or picked up, it's generally by the firewall and the rear section, no straps though the doors or anything.
Whenever I pick up a Model A I have to wear a ski mask and gloves. I'm not as lucky as you so I have to "borrow one".
Here's a couple threads on body lifting... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=302730 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=473263&highlight=model+hoist On my a coupe I use an engine hoist and put a cedar fence post through the rear quarter windows. I then put chains around the post and lifted.
