Man, I KNOW you didn't get that coupe from up here...that thing is too perfect. Just don't tell me you got it for free.....or even a killer deal....that way I can sleep at night.

Regarding space, all I have is my 8x8 shed out back and my driveway...both are full :/

you got plenty of room herefore no need for Hoarders. For one you think you can get another bike in there? I see some empty pick-em-up beds there & depending how high your ceiling is a couple of car lifts would be nice too..........

the coupe i bought down in virgina .some kid listed it on a volkswagon site for sale. my friend saw it a imediately called me. the car has 3000 miles on it and i am the second owner. his grandfather bought it new and in the late 50s he took it all apart to repaint it. stopped working on it and in the 80s he started working on it again then passed away. he was some editor or something for a model a newspaper in the 50s and 60s. now the down side. the garage contained the body the engine rear, front axel and engine wheels etc. the windsheild doors, trunk, visor where all in the basement and got scraped! SO i just completed my search for all these items. all had to be rust and dent free. which i found, but it took some time. if you check out my sedan youll see i dont want to mess with rust again. lol. not that i cant i just dont want to. one of the flat heads will go in the car the other is going to a good friend for his future build.

i have thought about lifts and took many measure ments. either way you slice it i would be able to fit 4 cars total. the post legs take up the room. believe me i would love a pair of backyard buddy lifts. IF any jersey guys have one for sale i would be interested for my old mans place. think i could fit one in there.

Don't be too sure of that. If they wanted what was in your building, believe me they would take it.

And there would be little you could do to stop it short of 24 hour armed security.

  7. Get that late model out of there and you can fit some more good sh__t in. Pete.

Not even close. 30 X 40 pole barn, 3 project cars, 2 completely apart and one partial. 7 4'X7' steel shelf units, full. 2 cabinets also full of tools and supplies, a workbench "catch-all", 2 engines, all of the rafters full of parts for the cars and extras. In the other garage an extra 5hp vertical air compressor, another project car, all the domestics like snowblower, generator, push mower. Then in the other garage, 3 yard tractors (don't ask...), several more car and bike parts, a pickup bed tool box, more domestics. No, I'd say you're just fine.

Some of our members here have been over to my place. Safe to say I'm probably under-stating the gig.

Skotty: step 1: Pick a project and leave it in the garage to work on.
step 2: Move everything else into the basement.

Viola - room to work. Who needs a basement anyways? That's for storing stuff. lol

Looks like it's all good, man!!

  14. I think you should have a garage sale and invite the hamb. We'll clean that garage up real quick!

Quite a nice stash- I don't see a problem. I do know a guy who bought property that used to be a salvage yard from the 1940's to the mid 1960's. He's got almost a thousand cars and trucks out in the woods in the middle of nowhere, and not a damned one of them is for sale. (Not that too many of them are savable at this point, anyway.)

i have decided to get one of the prebuilt amish garages. for like 4500 i can get a 24x14. should be enough room to work and move around comfortably. i think i will diamond plate or some thing similar for the floor to prevent the welding from fucking it up. if the town says no then i ll be in the market for a new place with what i need.

the basement isnt huge here and i have some junk in that too. but theres room for a whole car but no way to get it out. i guess i ll just have to survive this winter and then do the garage hunt. maybe i should post a thread about amish garages...

Thanks. There are two of them in the attic area (the photos don't show all of the attic area). This was the product of despiration. My garage runneth over!!:D

Check out my profile for photos of the cars in the ground level area of the garages. The shop area is as crowded as the attic area. I've wasted my alcohol, tobacco, drug, and whore money on cars and motorcycles.

You need to pile engine on top of engine, floor to ceiling, have no way to walk through the place, then throw in lots of rotting food, and broken over stuffed trash bags to be on that TV show. Extra credit for being 200 LBS overweight and bat-shit crazy.

  19. We lovingly refer to it as Mass Collecting. Take 2 asprins and call me in the morning, with directions to your place!! It's only hoarding if there's pizza hut boxes in the bathroom.

  20. story of my life....

  21. A friend who worked at a yacht builder/shipyard showed me these replaceable heavy fiber reinforced rubber floor mats that they used in their shop. They were like 3/8" thick and 4'x4' about 50+ lbs. They welded, ground, cut on, drove forklifts on these things every day all day long. He even took a torch to one in front on me, it made a scorch mark and deformed a little but thats why they were replaceable. Seemed like a good idea. Ryan's other site "garage journal" should have some ideas.

Check out a TSC store. Ask to see "cow mats" they are closer to 1/2 inch thick & about 4X8. $49.99 when they go on sale. they are a prick to pick up & handle by yourself, it is like trying to herd cats. One side has a kind of diamond plate texture & the other side is grooved.

Plus as a bonus, they smell just like a burnout when you drop a piece of glowing red hot metal on them.:D
