I've been making progress. I got the fuel system done, including stripping the regulator.I tried the oven cleaner and it didn't work for me. It just made a big mess, so I ended up just DAing it off and giving it a brushed finish. It looks a hell of a lot better now. I'm at work and don't have any pictures. I'll post some tonight when I get home.

I kind of had tunnel vision on getting it fired and started to overwhelm myself. So I quit focusing on that and started to focus on one project at a time again. So anyways I needed a place to mount my battery disconnet. I figured I might as well mount the bed so I could put it in the tailgate. So I finished up the bedsides and now I'm working on the mounts to the frame.

I also figured I needed gauges to fire it. I really don't want to waste time doing things temporary. So I filled the dash and put in my gauges, ignition, headlight and misc switches.

Heres some pics of the dash. I'll add some more tonight.

Here's the shots of the regulator and the bed so far. I have to make tabs to weld to the frame and clean up all the brackets.

  11. Your Hot Rod looks better and better each time I see it! Maybe when mine is done we can do some grudge matches:D

Do you have any close ups on how you flanged your bed sides or panels together. I have a few ideas on how I am going to attach mine together but want to see some others. Now that my roll bar is in I need to modify my bed slightly to get it to mount.

Here you go Brian. I think you can see in the pics, where the vice grips are holding the tab on. That tab will be welded to the ch***is, then I'll bolt the bed brackets to that. The brackets on the bedsides are just 14ga broke into a 90. Then I bolted them to the sides where the stake pockets would rivet on.

I'm always up for a grudge match! How about the HAMB drags in a couple years?

Mike, it's hard to get a good shot where the rear bars bolt on when they're together. I think you can see the shock mount. That allen head sticking down is the bolt going through the crossmember into the down bar.

I haven't posted in a while so here's a couple pics. I didn't get a ton done but every little thing I get done seems to push me closer to the end.

I got the bed mounts and tailgate finished up. The tailgate is original. It was very solid but wavy as hell. It was bowed out on the p***enger side. I had to split it down the middle and push it back straight, then weld it back up. All in all it's pretty close but I'm not a sheet metal guy by any means that for sure.

I got the battery box made and in. I had bought a box from speedway but since I centered my fuel tank it wouldn't fit in the back. So instead of completely rebuilding it, I just made my own.

Next while I was waiting for my harness to come, I decided it was time to section my grille shell. I bought this shell off of ebay right after I bought my cab. I should of waited because it was pretty rough and I paid way too much for it. Someone had started to fix it. They welded a patch panel on the bottom and it was crooked. So when I cut it apart I cut each bar off and rewelded them one by one back on to the bottom. Then I had to take my diegrinder between each bar to dress the weld. I also had to add a piece in on the driver side to make everything line back up again. It was a ton of work to make it right. I still have to fill in the radiator cap hole. I bought the trim piece from Macs and I'm waiting for it to come in before I do.I guess I could of bought a repop but then you guys would call me a 1-800-streetrooder.

Also I pushed it outside a few weeks ago, so I thought I'd throw a shot of that up.

Thanks Bert, it's a small world. Jimmy had said that he knew a couple of guys building 32-34 trucks and that they had stopped in. I didn't know any were on here. Your truck looks good. I'm sure I'll see you around.

I don't have much progress to report. But I wanted to post some shots of the velocity stacks I had made.

I want to give some props to Phill Hutty (hamb name bulletz) from New Zealand who made these for me. I had started a thread looking for stacks to fit my large base 2g's. He saw my thread and PMed me saying he could make them. Phill is super cool to deal with and the price was very reasonable. Including the shipping, it was around $270 usd. Here's a link to his website.

I haven't decided I might cut them down a little. They may be a little obnoxious.
