I only have a few ****py pic.s, sorry.
    long trailing arms
    [IMG]
    bushings at both ends,

I don't have a pic. but I also have a panhard bar that goes from the inside frame to the opposite side trailing arm bracket

its a simple 2 link with a panhard bar to locate the axle, it works fine, I have a lot of miles on it, if you see me around I am always willing to open the trunk.

i have a 54, i wanted to notch it and put it on air as low as yours but didn't want to change all the running gear yet... as it happens i've now bought a 40 so i'm selling the 54 so it doesn't matter so much but interesting that you have managed it with no problems.

where abouts are you in LA? i hope to be out there in late April all going well... will be heading to Pomona

    ok my final question.
Is the torque tube driveshaft splined to where it can travel back and in, as in the rear axle can move rearwards or forwards like open driveline driveshafts can?

A 4-link, or 4-bar setup, is perfered for tuning and handling. A 2-link will never let the axle move like a 4-link. If you are talking about a setup with 2 lower bars with bushed ends, one end at the ch***is and one end under the axle, then a shorter bar which runs from the top of the axle to the lower bar, and is adjustable, is still a 2-link. Only thing is that you can still adjust the pinion angle, but its still a 2-link. Basically your doing the same setup that is on Jims 56 chevy.

I just went to a 2 link trailing arm panhard bar setup, and im still getting a t******* sound coming from the floor where the trans and torque tube meet. Have you ever had this problem? How low can you drive yours? The sound is not as bad as it was with the 4 link. Ive only been driving it in the air on jack stands and i only get the noise over 35mph.
    Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
What rear ends are pretty close measurements tof the stock one again?!

sorry its a ****py pic. but I never measured my ride height but, this is about my normal height while driving.

in this pic I am about 6" off the ground at the rear bumper and I s****e my pipes a lot.

I really only use my bags to lower it when I park and raise it to clear obstacles.

I would try shimming your trany up 1/2 inch.

I know it might not be "cool" for those wanting to cruze 1/4 off the ground but this is ride hight is safe and comfy , I have lots of travel and I don't bottom out AND its not fun fixing your car on the side of the road.

man that looks pretty close to my ride height too. I will raise the trans mount a bit and see how it does. If not, ill be looking for a t5!

What size tires are you running? I got 205/75 15s I should probably go down to the 205/70s I think maybe that would change the driveline angle a little too huh... in a better way?

Tire size will not change the drive line angle at all. It will change the entire car angle, but not the driveline. The relative angle between the rear and the trans will stay the same, they will both rise or fall with a tire size/height change.

no the air bags would have to be inflated more to keep my ride height increasing the distance from axle to top bag mount

Oh, that makes sense. I sometimes forget about the option of airbags...I know, read the thread again...I'll go sit in the corner now.

yeah, exactly like jim's...point being it will still work fine. It wont articulate or hold the pinion perfect like a 4 link, my bad for misunderstanding how it would function before I actually saw how my rear suspension will work. I never said its not a 2 link, it is a 2 link that also works like traction bars. Throw a link from the top of the axle forward and its the same rear suspension as my old Riviera came with stock. Bonus being I wont have issues with my back seat like I would with a tri-4 link.

Just sharing that it can be done so why not bring it back for discussion for those who are still wondering.

    Wolf is my son

I know this is old but I was thinking a bushed link arm mounted in the front spring shackle location with a johnny joint welded to the axle with a shackle connected to another bushing end on the link bar. I was thinking this for a bag over bar set up. Anyway, I think this would allow for articulation without using the truck style arms. Would my thinking be flawed?
