I recently have acquired a slingshot, and I was wondering if anyone could offer their opinions about the time frame it came from and possibly any ideas of the chassis maker. I was back-halved a few years ago and certified for 6.00, but the front end is original. The wheelbase is 150". I don't think it's to bad of a car for a 19 year old! Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Thanks, I haven't got to drive it yet. I bought it a week before I left to come to Houston for school. I will be driving it this weekend and will post the results. Just scored another breather mask, aluminized boots and gloves off ebay tonight too.

Well a few weeks ago I took the dragster to Thunder Valley Dragways in Marion, SD. We had problems with the fuel injection and never got to make a pass. Later we found out the barrel valve was installed backwards. I got some cool pictures of the dragster though.

  7. So it's in SD, not Houston? Lame! I was hoping to see it run down here.

Well, I'm attending the School of Automotive Machinists down here and am originally from South Dakota. I think my father is planning on bringing it down here this winter. The only reason it's not down here now is, apartment life, car for a daily driver, and no place to store it. If you know of any good storage sheds, let me know. I would love to have it down here!

Owen i am not a history buff on the cars but if it were original 150" it would be early 60's. The true history would be found in a unique front end set up or the way the back half was built. Since it was updated the history might never be known if the original manufacturer tag was removed. If it was still there and has a number stamped on it SEMA kept track of chassis builder and you can find out who built the car. Good luck with the car, front engines are fun!

No SEMA sticker, thanks for the time frame estimate though, that's what I was really after. Thank you for that. I Haven't gotten to drive it yet, but I'm looking forward to whenever that may be!

Skidlid, Thank you for the time frame estimate. I'm sure I'll never find out who made the chassis, but oh well.
