Ok, not all the way to 4" but close. To cut a long story short: I´m in the ***embling stage of a 61 283 bored 0.060 over to 3.935" for my 34 Plymouth. I initially wanted a 4" bore but the block was so nice I did´t want to punch i out all the way to 4" I ´ve got a good offer for the 350/350 combo I had in my 34 until now and I always wanted a manual shifted Hot Rod, with a nasty , high revving V8 in it. I don´t want an all out race engine, but around 300HP is my goal. More couldn´t harm either , hahaha Here´s what I already have and what I´d like to use, since I already have it, 58 Block bored .060 over , crank ground to .010 " undersize KB forged dome pistons ( wanted Speed Pro´s but they weren´t availible anymore) Edelbrock Performer RPM flat tappet cam and lifters 64cc Camel Hump Heads with 2.02/1.60 valves and Edelbrock Valve springs Early Edelbrock Torker open plenum manifold, X-Style. 650 holley carb 1 5/8" fenderwell headers I´d also like to replace the Turbo 350 with a 5 speed manual ******, like a T5 or the like. What flywheel, clutch, clutch fork etc. will I need to do a conversion? And which ****** is the right one for my car? Any info is good info since I don´t have a clue what fits what and what doesn´t. Thanks !!! Chris
If you want it to be a fun driver then keep the CR down to 10:1 or less. Recently I built a 301 around a set of NOS 12:1 TRW pistons I picked up at a swap meet and now I cant afford to drive it. Racing fuel is very expensive. Its in my mid engine Corvair and its just a toy any way but now its a very expensive toy.
Thanks Lobucrod, sounds like fun! Cr will be around around 10.2:1 with the 64cc heads , I plan to run it on 95 Octane, but 98 or 100 is readily available at every gas station. My TH350 had a 6" tailhousing, is there a T5 or other manual ****** that has the same length? That would safe me from messing around with my driveshaft.
I can understand you wanting a manual transmission, but installing all those std shift parts has to be a h***le. A auto trans is soooo simple. As you get older you look for the easy way out.
If you have not committed to a camshaft run a Engle EP-25 Solid. In a light car, with a stick this will be a high revving great sounding and performing cam.
