you say it's running on and off..?? Do you mean it quits running on you?....if so maybe it needs a resistor on the coil/ dist as points can burn up....also check to see if its' got a 12 gen or an alternator which is needed to charge a 12V batt

Should be easy to tell if its converted.Check light bulbs, generator, coil, gauges would either have been changed or some sort of voltage regulator has been installed if they are reading correctly . Tell us exactly what the car is doing and I'm sure someone can help you>

If it turns out it's been rewired for 125V you're gonna need an awful long extension cord to go anywhere !
    ....sorry couldn't resist

no light bulbs on it, it has a voltage regulator that looks original and reads 6volt, I cleaned carb and put it back on it started and then i set the idol turned it off and then when i started it agian the started just clicked.

They are talking about parking lights, dash lights. It almost sounds like someone stuck a 12 volt battery in your car and did not change anything over to 6 volts.

battery was not being charged if it only has a six volt regulator. finish converting to 12 volt or put a new 6 volt battery in it.

I'd go with 125 volt. Then you can run your blender to make frozen margaritas.

At that voltage, you could engage the starter for overtaking!

engage the starter? And that would explain why the new battery died after a day or so. If anyone knows a list of what i need to do to convert would appreciate the help.
