*Lonestar Round-up* I wanna go this year...anyone have some advice?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RoadFarmer, Nov 6, 2010.

  1. I want to plan an Austin trip next year for the round-up, but need to plan way in advance with my work and with tryin to get my brother to go. It's about a 6 hour drive from here. I wish there were some traditional car clubs in Lubbock or Amarillo I could join....would be fun to join someones convoy on the way there. Any other clubs want to start a west texas chapter?! I'll be hopefully takin my '64 Imperial.
    I have a few questions:

Where should I stay? I'd like to stay somewhere that is near some night action. Some place fun to meet some fellow Hambers

What are the must sees of the show?

Any hotels, bars, restraunts to stay away from? bad crowds? I would like to think everyone that goes to the show is cool, but there's always someone that is a **** haha

Try the Roundup link - http://www.lonestarroundup.com/

Start looking for posts here on the HAMB starting the 1st of March and sometimes earlier,,,,lots of guys and gals post their routes, dates and times they will be cruising to the show. Most anyone is welcome to fall in.

Plenty to do in Austin once you get there, great bands at the show, on the street (South Congress) and at the Continental Club, plus other clubs in the area.

I feel guilty for not contributing anything useful, but damn i cant wait for April to get here!!

  5. I've been to 3 of them and never got my Roadster in the show so finding a Hotel only a couple miles away wasn't an issue!

  6. Is it hard to get a car into the show? Or did you just not care about having your car there?

Come on down!Theres nothing to it, just good times to be had by all who are involved.

  9. If my brother comes from Cali, I'll have to pick him up in Lubbock. He'd come thursday night or afternoon. We'd probably be better off leaving right then, or stayin in Lubbock for the night and leave really early friday morning

For the past 3 years we try and get into Austin on Thursday - gives us time to get settled in and prepare for all of Fridays activities (garage crawl, show, etc). I've stayed at a few different places, but this year I'll be staying at the Emb***y Suites again. Yes it's a little pricy, but I'm taking my parents up so I needed a room(s) that could comfortably hold 5 adults. Free drinks every night, bad *** location (about three blocks from all the action on South Congress)

There's usually a thread about "where are you staying" as we get closer and quite a few people will set up deals/group rates with hotels for discounts for those attending the Roundup.

This will be the tenth annual, so the show should be even more amazing than the last three, beg - borrow - steal if you have to, but be sure to make it!

This year will be the best year yet 10th Anniversary Lonestar Roundup. People will start showing up around wed march 30th. You could try San Jose, Austin Motel, Holiday Inn Town lake, La Quinta Oltorf and many more hotels in Austin book a year in advance so get your room soon to get a good location. Registration is Jan 1st on the lonestar Web site. There will be good bands this year can't say who but I bet we have some tricks up are sleeves for this one. Hope to see you out there.

No problems with motel or getting in the show. Fill up the hoopie and head on down for one hell of a show and an all round good time.

The RoundUp is a must see. Me & 2 others took the 20 hr. drive each way and would do it again.
