I recently acquired a 47 Stylemaster 4 door, it is covered in rust but being new to this whole thing I figured it was a great place to start(give me plenty of experience). Well everything has been going pretty good other than one thing. I want to remove all the chrome from the car so that I can sand off all the rust. The problem I have encountered is that the exterior door handles run through the chrome door trim. I took the door panels off and study the door lock mechanism, and even removed the trunk latch mechanism thinking there may be a clue there, but I just can't figure it out. I am sure there is a way to remover the door handle without removing the door latch guts from the door. Can anyone give me some clues on what I am looking for. I thought there may be a key lock like with the interior handles but I havent been able to find any. Thanks Greg.
Ok nevermind I figured it out. There is a small screw in the door jam of the door that is recessed into the door handle. It is a flat head you must remove it and then you can shake and pull on the door handle to get it off.
