Here are some shots from the Smith brothers of South Lyon, Craig and Bryan. We built them both chassis for their roadster projects. One an all original hi-boy, looking like its straight out of the late forties early fifties. The other a hybrid Brookville and orig.-bodied roadster in Sixties trim. The green chassis (Hybrid/orig.) is Bryans.... we built it in 2001 and it was in the July 2002 Street rod builder. We built the thing here, hung the suspension, did the engine transmission geometry, boxed the rails, custom chassis engineering x-member, nos Deuce front crossmember, nos 40 rear crossmember that we flattened and narrowed. Bryan got the frame and has spent countless hours making it look as good as it does, adding his own personal touches to make the frame even more rigid then it was when it left here. His attention to detail is second to none, except maybe his brother. The pedals kick ass....I love the headlight mounts.....the color.....the Hamb's lehr painted it...that had to be fun!! looks great Pat! I'll have to post some pics of Craig's roadster in the next post....Stay tuned Oh...Why do we love the Deuce???? silly question
And here is CRaig's beautiful Orig. Roadster The Chassis under this is toned down compaired to Bryans..... Beautiful work guy's (lurkers)
Those things are purty, makes me wanna punch myself in the balls for not being worthy. Always dig your posts HRD
Nice Matt, you guys do some great work. The belled holes the factory looking rivets, and the attentions to details is what seperates you guys from everyone else. I'd like to see more of Bryans when it gets done.
Yo Matt- That is a killer chassis! You guys never stop amazing me with the crazy shit you come up with!! How 'bout some pics of your shop truck progress???? tell your dad I said HI... Purdy
Hey man! Here is a link to the last update....Going to cobo? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40567&highlight=neat+pitman
Thanks for the udpate- I hope to get to COBO, will you have a display there? I want try and stop by the shop soon- I need to get some inspiration and a buddy of mine wants to see your chassis stuff too... Talk to you later! Matt
Just got back from Daytona glad to see some pictures of the chassis on here,I told Bryan to put the chassis in autorama before he covers it up with the body..it is sweet!!! I dont know how many of you guys have ever tryed to paint inside of a hole before but it aint easy, I had that thing on two engine stands so I could spin it around and had to paint real fast to keep it all wet so it wouldnt have any dry spots...man it was a bitch...but it looks so nice I bought the same chassis parts from Matt and Denny ( ionia hot rod) those guys are master craftsman. The SMITH BROS. are the most meticulous guys I've ever met....they're great guys to work for too. thanks Matt.. pat.
