Like most of us here on the HAMB, Im always on the look out for anything I can share on the board. I flew from So Cal last week out to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:State w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">New Hampshire</st1lace></st1:State>. My little brother plays for <st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Dartmouth</st1lace></st1:City> football, so I decided to go see him and spend some time out there. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o> </o> Half my family lives in <st1:State w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Connecticut</st1lace></st1:State>, so I figured I would stop by and see them. Its been nearly 20 years. When I got there my uncle asked me if I knew he bought a 49 Ford. I said I did not, and the car and story are worthy of being on here. <o> </o> In 1949, Mrs. Heinrich traded her 1939 Chevy panel truck for this beautiful brand new Ford. It was fairly rare that a woman at the time would purchase the car, and for the $1700 price tag. Most people had an annual salary of $2200 in the town at the time. <o> </o> She always stored it in a garage, and rarely drove it. She p***ed in 1983 when her son, a retired priest, inherited the car, only to store it until 9 years ago. My uncle Joe told me that as a kid, he always wanted that car. He inquired on it to find it was for sale, and he had to have it. <o> </o> He has stored it ever since, and takes it out on occasion. He has 6 other projects, and this one is one that wont be touched. <o> </o> He removed the ORIGINAL tires, but still has them, along with every piece of paper for the car, including all registration slips, manuals, and bill of sale. It runs like a champ, and in 61 years it only has 37k on the odometer. Enjoy.
great story and even better shoebox.something has to be said for a nice stocker like that.nice original unmolested ride.
