My True Love --1953 Chev pickup by Boots Frithiof of Austin Texas ----1966-67 International Championship Auto Shows - TwoChops
Sweet, it still has the original moldleaf paint on the tailgate. Sad to see an old custom deteriorated like that. It does look saveable though, and worth saving. Nice truck.
any more pics of that truck? I'm gonna go try and take some more pics of it this weekend. If I had the money I'd get this truck.
Looks like a pretty easy restoration project, it looks like everything is still with it,...... some H.A.M.B.er should snap this puppy up. after all, you can't buy History but this truck has it.
FOUND!!! Sam came by today with some additional pictures. it is still for sale. Sam can be reached at 512 282 0360. mobile number is (512) 663 3037. let's not blow his phone up with frivolous stuff...but he does want to move it soon. It is still ***led in Boot's name! The pictures I have seen look really, really good. this is a relic in need of love!
I tried to buy this truck back in 2007. Was too late. Showed up at detroit auto rama. Would like to see if new owner did anything with it. If not would he be willing to sell it? This truck is all I've been able to think of for a couple years now. Thanks Derrick PM if anyone knows any details
I knew i seen it somewhere else...it was sooo kool to actually stand next to it to see how it was reworked...Very kool little truck....I wonder who got it???
I lived in Austin from late 1985 'til mid '88 and I worked just down the street from Boot's shop.. I spent lots of lunch hours with the guy and he told me a lot about the truck's details.. For instance, the grill "mesh" and the tail light lense covers were made from florescent light fixture covers. The lip around the grill opening and fenders is made from EMT conduit.. The hood scoop was made by cutting out the center of the hood. He flipped it over, added some metal around the edge to give it "depth" and welded it back in place. At that time, the truck was sitting out in the weather rusting away behind his shop, and didn't look much different from the photos posted on this thread... I asked him why was he neglectjng the truck, and his answer (I don't remember his exact words) were that during the build and while he was making the show circuit with it, he was extremely devoted to caring for the truck, and now his level of "undevotion" to it is just as intense... It's been for sale for a while. I went to see it a few years ago. It really is cool. The old upholstery is awesome. It is restorable of course, but it needs a ton of work. I hope someone takes it on and restores it to its former glory.
I know this thread is really old, but I am Boots's granddaughter and I was wondering where the truck might be located now?
Not trying to intrude on a post about this cool truck, but reading old posts reminds me of posters gone AWOL. I see a post from LUX BLUE. That's an old voice, not seen here for many years. I know people move on, get pissed and leave, or stop playing with cars altogether, but I can't help but wonder why some disappear so completely after being an active, helpful member in the past. Now back to the truck.
Is that a recent picture of the truck? 16 years since the first post here on it and still no one has restored that poor thing.... what a shame
Discussion on FB and IG put it in the Detroit area. Quite a few more pics have been dug up. @Kustm52 posted some
