ok my linkage that comes from gas pedal and attaches to linkage to the carb was held on with rusty wire ... i thought it just need a cotter pin but then i realize the wire didnt go thro a hole in the little arm . it was just w****d around linkage . so i have this lego looking nut how do i connect it in the hole . it just falls out . no room for cotter pin ... i could make it longer and just drill a hole ... but how does it really go ?????????? thanks guys .. any one had this problem ??
I had to find another 53 or 54 and get them off one of them. I have a stock of em as backup. Never tried to do anything else but I'm sure there is a way to find an alternative.
there is a very unique clip that they use on your linkage, it is like a eyelet that clips over the rod and holds the linkage on. hard to find , i have drilled a small hole through the part where it goes through the linkage and used a cotter pin to hold it on. whats weird is some of the linkages use the clip and some are drilled and use a cotter pin. have parted out several cars and notice this. hope that helps.
The clip looks like this: EASY to find.
