Has any one used a electric wiper motor from a boat. I have a 1940 chevy truck that I am wanting to put a drivers side wiper on. I thought a boat wiper motor may work for the small size you can get them in and the different length shafts you can get. I know you can get specific kits for my truck but I don't want to spend a lot if this may work. Let me know what you guys think or any other motors that will fit in that small area. Thanks
i have a found auto wiper motors at surplus places, princess auto here in Canada, but i;m sure there everywhere, i have mine on my 45 gmc, i just have it mounted outside the header for now and running the drivers only, but i have tried fitting it inside the header and will be able to run both sides, cost $20, two speeds and park
For my old 69 scout...i bought marine wiper motors to replace the old vacuum ones. i paid 69 bucks a piece i believe and they work great and no noise outta them.
You may want to take a look at the a junk yard, check out rear window wipers on some SUV's. I snagged one for my closed cab mod. A p/u, not sure what it's off of. It came out of a pile of crashed parts, but it works and fits in the small space it needs to go in. .............Jack
I too have heard of using a rear wiper motor from an SUV...... and I have sleep in a Holiday Inn before also!
I have a polaris wiper set i got for like $50. they aren't in time, but they work if it rains. I keep the p*** side turned off most of the time.
One thing to consider: They are made in different versions, most common type sweeps 90 degrees, or 110 degrees. It´s possible to find some that sweeps 135 deg.

Find a wrecking yard that still stores parts in school busses. The '50s & '60s Waynes, Superiors, etc. use an American Bosch 12v motor that's no bigger than an avocado. If you want dual wipers, buy 2 ...
