My wife and I are flying out tonight for our Honeymoon. We are flying into San Francisco for Friday-Tuesday then driving down the 101 to L.A. Are there any must see's on the way. And what are some good cruize-in's to go to in LA or close to LA.
How 'bout the road where James Dean bought it 9/30/55? East of Paso Robles where 41 and 46 meet. Not a cheerful site though a historic one. A great cruise is called 'Cars and Coffee' early Saturday mornings in Irvine. Another one (not as big) is 'Donut Derelicts' also early Saturday in Huntington Beach.
Don't take the 101. Drive the coast south on Hwy 1. You will not regret it. This site is a valuable resource.... http://www.socalcarculture.com/events.html
+1000 YEah Man, you have to take this route, and since its your honeymoon, there's a few quaint hotels you might feel the urge to stop off at. www.madonnainn.com now this is a fun place to stay at. Ive never stayed here, but I've heard it's an awesome place.. Back to the route. Be prepared to feel like you're in a different part of the world. This road reminds me that there are wonderful places within our own country to see. I told my wife, no more trips to Europe, untl we've seen everything within the Good Ole U.S. of A.... Good Luck, and congratulations..
Shoulda skipped San Fran and just headed straight to LA! HA! Plenty in LA to see! I enjoyed all of it. Farmers Market on Third and Fairfax, SoCal Speed Shop, Micelis Restaurant on Las Palmas for pizza, Peterson Museum, Wally Parks NHRA Museum in Pomona, Pinks for a dog, head over to Burbank for Bob's Big Boy & the Friday night car cruise, Santa Monica Pier for a night walk on the beach with the new wife....you'll have a blast
www.socalcarculture.com in agreement with all above. HWY 1 all the way. petersen and parks museums, friday night Bob's burbank, saturday nite Bob's downey. a day trip to catalina island is awesome, downtown long beach and shoreline village, queen mary is pretty darn cool. depending on what part of LA you're in, caffeine cruisers meets on the corner of artesia and hawthorne blvd in torrance on saturday mornings. of course there's all of the orange county theme parks and downtown disney district, universal studios and city walk, tons of great live music all over the place, maybe grab a show at the pantages or catch a movie at the el capitan theater, venice boardwalk, santa monica pier/promenade... and on and on....

If you are headed from SF Brizio Streetrods then south on 101, Monterey has several restaurants and hotels (Cannery Row) further south non 101 is Pismo Beach, its a great lunch stop for fish & chips and back on 101 toward Santa Barbara (nice hotels, with a cool downtown) in Santa Monica 3rd Street Prominade just a few blocks from the Pier. The Petersen Museum is a Must in Beverly Hills just a few miles east of Santa Monica on Wilshire Blvd. and Fairfax. The Walley Parks Museum at the Pamona Fairplex are two must see's for a carguy. If you are going to Pamona you should stop by SoCAL Speed Shop. Have Fun!
Yeah Richcraft on here is a good friend and he is trying to get ahold of Jimmy Shine to give us a exclusive shop tour. We are for sure hitting the Petersen Museum.
