I will be in Buffalo NY tomorrow and thaought I would visit a speed shop and pick up some goodies I need. Are there any good places around?? Thanks, Larry
K&S sucks! Pretty much mail-order. Used to be good 30 years ago but no more. There is Pro Mod champ (Mike Janis) Jan-Cen Motorsports in Elma, NY (716-668-2096) or N.H.R.A / I.H.R.A. Record Holder, Oddy's Automotive in Elma, NY (716-674-2500) or Carl McQuillin in Leroy, NY or The Car Shop in Springville, NY. If I can think of others I will let you know!
I dunno about speed shops Larry... but I did know about Buffalo street rods that was owned by Len Fink... at the time he was building really neat stuff.... have not talked to Lenny in years...
Forget the speed shops just check out what Thunderbirdesq is doing. He's always up to no good!!!! I'll be there on the 24th for a few days for Thanksgiving. I probably will be doing the family thing and nothing else though.
Hey "roddin-shack" I just thought of another place you could go and its up your "Ford" alley. Mac's the Ford reproduction parts company is in Lockport, NY. It may not be a speed shop but it is a Ford specialty shop. Lockport is a little north of Buffalo. Speaking of Buffalo, if you are looking for something interesting, there is the Pierce Arrow Museum in downtown Buffalo. There is a lot of auto related things in there, not just Pierce.
Macs is a good place to visit if you've never been, ask if you can take a tour. Wait till you see their library for employees!! Jeff, I was over to Lenny's place within the last year, bought a '39 trans from him. He had a few cool projects in there but was also doing some late model general repairs too. I just heard that a buddy of mine who used to own the garage across the street from my job is working over there with him now. Larry, you'd be more than welcome to drop by my place, except I'm heading out of town for the weekend tmw, doh!
Gerstners is still at the same location Main near Transit and as the sign in the front window says Sorry to be open".Ron has an interesting sense of humor.diz
He's slowly getting away from it, you can usualy catch him at Tim Hortons at Genesee and Harris hill Rd. around 7:30 a.m. To roddin-shack hope you found a place to kill some time today.
Thanks Guys, I did make it to MACS, nice place but spent too much money. They sure keep a lot of stock there, very nice to see. I am also glad to say they didnt bang me at the border either.
As others noted, yes he does--same place too. In the '60's I put a dent in my '37 Chevy coupe front fender---right at the curve. He pounded it out from underneath with what seemed like a million hammer marks and used no body filler that I was aware of. Remarkable job and a very nice guy. Anyone know if he still paints cars or does body work?
