I'm taking my son to see the good Reverend at the Bottleneck in Lawrence Ks. this Sat.. Any of you Kansas folks going??
You know those cds you play continuesly when you first get em? That was Rev. heat, and i blasted it while i built my frame. Then i shared a shop with a friend who totally over played it.....now i cant stand most of their songs. Other than that killer music.
I'll tell ya what it is... It's some kinda Texas Psychobilly Freak-Out!!!! Still enjoy them but don't listen too much anymore. But I was a huge fan back in the 90's. Got turned on to "Smoke `Em If Ya Got `Em" back in `91-92 by a friend from Dallas and got to see them many times live between then & `04 (last time I went), never a dissappointment. That 1st album is still the best, IMHO.
"Where in the hell did you go with my toothbrush?" Love that song! I'd love to see the REV. in concert
i saw them at in lawrence for the first time in the 90's. in my opinion they are great! i always try to see them when they stop in town. have fun!
Seen em twice when they were out here last and got a ticket for this tour the other day. Party! Get Naked! Buy us Beer! classic.
The Rev is still at it ?! In about late 1988 when I was working as a bouncer at a nightclub in Champaign called Mabels , the Jeff Healy Band was set up and the the doors to the club had opened for the nights show. There was already an opening band set up to perform. Well these 3 guys showed up and talked their way into performing in front of the opening act. It was none other than the Rev. Horton Heat. Over the next several years Jim and the boys played at the club to crowds of 20 to 30 people. The last time he played there my co-worker worked his ass off promoting a concert for them and they had about 125 people at that gig. Not too long after that Al Jorgensen got ahold of the Rev. and they finally got a wider audience. As a side note , another great act that played at Mabels was Link Wray. that fella was a trip !
Hell yea, "smokem if you got em", "its martini time" awesome albums. He just finished an aussie tour but couldnt seem to to fit NZ in. Very sad. He's the "Holy Roller". How can you do shit in the shed with out decent tunes?
