Suggest you post this on the Fordbarn, too. Lots of expertise over there.

The round spindles alone are worth that. Why not take the whole car? Lots of useable or resaleable parts if it is even close to complete.

Yes. and yes get the whole damn thing. Hubs without the drum are $95. New drums are $100, + or-. I need a better '35-40 frame & can always use another trans, but too far away. don't let it get snipped up

    Nah, it's not worth $20.

  9. I hate to drive the price of anything up but just for starters look in the clasidieds. I see bare axles go for more than that all the time.

  10. I wouldn't wait too long to go back to that 40. Use your name here as a guide because somebody else will buy it before you...then you really will be..

Offer the guy $150 for the complete car. Rusty or not, you can part it out on Craigslist for the price of gas and dragging it home. Heck, you could almost part it out on your trailer in your driveway if you post it on Craigslist if you price stuff sorta' fair within' 2 days.

Oh yea, it didn't happen to have the smaller flathead with it?

I cannot believe that people actually responded to this G.I. I don't mean to sound snobby, although there is plenty of snobbery on this forum, but c'mon, do we have to educate everyone?! Isn't education wasted on someone who does not recognize the importance and significance of '40 Ford parts before he signs up on this forum?

Nothing personal against you Stewed, buy you show S.C. as your locale. Isn't that a state that was significant in bootlegging? Have you ever heard of the legends about '40 Fords in that endeavor? Can you recognize the relationship of early moon shiners to hot rodding?

36t i thought awhile before responding to you...i wasnt gonna say anything but then i fealt i had to....lets see if i didnt recognize what the importance of the car was then damn.....why the hell would i even have stopped to look into it..i guess with my lack of car knowledge i could have confused it for a 05 kia.....and my second reason for posting about it is..im not loaded with money matter of fact i work hard for every penny i have so i figured it would be a wise decision to ask before throwing money into something......and jus because im now pissed this is the exact reason alot of young people dont bother to get into these cars because they are ridiculed by a small group of people for asking a dumb question

Sorry for the abuse you've taken. Don't let it get to ya. We've all been there at one time or another. So, did you buy the car.....and just which body style is it? 2dr.,4dr. Coupe, Convertible? Please don't tell us it's a Station Wagon and it's 100% complete and you p***ed on it:eek:

Hey stewed, don't internalize the smack talk. To some a 40 is the holy grail. My 1st instinct was "...you gotta be kiddin..." but I figured you'd catch on after a few replies. Your answer is get everything you can. If ya dig around and put some extra work into the deal you'll see that "every penny" you earn will be easier and perhaps addicting in some ways. All of us need **** from time to time and guys that stumble on to good deals serve 2 purposes...they harvest parts to bring to market and earn extra $$$$ for their own projects. Those that leave room in their pricing do better than those that want it all in 1 score. Is it worth it? ****in eh. I can respect the fact that extracting a rough old junker isn't easy and it's not for everybody, yet the work end of things will turn to fun in a big hurry. Good luck.

Is it possible for a quick camera shot of the car? Is the rear deck area good or the doors?

    Thanks,
    Chris
