Black and Copper. The copper would be treated to a custom look, make it look engine turned, the roof too. The offset color would be dark blood red, stripe all of the edge of the engine turned copper in the blood red. Do some pin work at he nose and tail of the ride. Blood red rims with ww's, double thin black pin around the edge of the rim. Black moon caps, scuff and paint black, blood red pin work in there on the cap face. You could pull this off with a pearl white and copper and blood red too, the pearl will how some copper glint.
Only owned two white cars and they were both bad, one wouldn't run and one got totaled ? Never even thought of a white one. Also the insurance company said the the white car was the hardest one to see??????????/
This is my 50 Chevy. Its just white sealer, I like it so it will stay that color till I get bored with it.
There are so many variations of White in automotive colors, you would be amazed. Let me back up just a bit. To get the color of white that you prefer, you have to start at the primer coat and work up. The color of the primer, Red or Gray etc will give you a difference in the finished color. If you like a bit of Blue in your White, tell the guy at the counter what you want to do. Chances are good that he can give/sell you a bit of blue, green or yellow base tint to add to your choice of white. Spray some test panels, look at the panels in all kinds of light to see what you like. Mix, spray, repeat. When I think of White with a blue tint, I think late 60s Chrysler. Add blue to give the white finish some depth, add black to make white last longer in sunny climates. Dale Cleveland OH
My old Chevy. Nissan Pearl White (REALLY BRITE WHITE) with pearl striping. Had a 454 in it when I had it, last seen with a TPI 502. Gone for a few years now. LAst seen at Back To The 50s a few years ago with different colour stripes (Gray). Sure was a fun sleeper before it was prettied up and painted, those 5 litre Mustangs didn't know what just blew them off. Canuck
Here's my 55 more door I had in high school. I painted it Corvette Cl***ic White in bodyshop cl*** in 77. The white doesn't photograph well and this shot was taken with an old 110 instamatic.
i agree white NEEDS somethin.. if you must do scallops i vote gold, and more intricute and smaller than your photoshop... gold is SOOO cl***y on white, and isnt over done, and people wont just call your car a rat rod off bat.. cl***y striping goes a LONG way too heres my white 63... tops all flaked and candied, and soon i need to redo the body paint, all the trim, and add striping to tie in the interior and top... planning panel striping and scroll striping around emblems..
I think white is a tricky color. Takes the right car to look good. To me it's a cl***y color and looks good on big cars Cadillacs, Chryslers etc. and needs to have brite and really nice chrome bumpers, trim, wheels, etc. Heres a few pic's of a 61 Olds I did awhile back, not exactly HAMB friendly but I think a good example of a white car. Here are some pics of my 29 A [32 frame rails] Roadster and '58 Watson - A J Foyt Sprint car [Bowes Seal Fast] my dad and I restored. Ordered specially mixed Pearl White for the correct color of the Sprint car - had extra and ended up painting the roadster the same color. My dad added the Maroon stripe later.
