Anyone have a supplier for 32-34 ford pu door latches ? I did several searches here and elsewhere, still cant find anyone that repops these...Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe.
I have searches for them too... never found any. I got lucky, picked up a pair of crappy doors for $100, and they had great latches and regulators in them. They are like gold... your going to pay if you find them for sale. good luck on your project...
I'm not sure anyone re-pops them yet. When someone does I'm going to be on the list too. Right now I'm running bear claws with a remote latch set up. Works good but interferes with the window channel. Macs does supply new spring kits it yours are saveable.
Im in the process of rebuilding the doors now, the latches I have Im going to try and repair, but they are pretty rough. The regulators are in good shape, and the part the inner handle attaches to is still good. I did see the springs are available along with the dove tails and everything else on the door. I thought maybe I missed them somewhere. Thanks,Joe.
Are those the full size ones or the small ones, also how do you mount and connect the original exterior handle.?....the small sets seem reasonably priced but I cant picture in my head how to make the factory style handles work. Thanks for everyone's time. Joe.
You can rebuild the old ones if you have them....they are pretty simple really. You can buy new springs for them also. I rebuilt a set a while back, they worked great! I was told the truck latches are the same as '32 5w and sedan....not positive though
They are the small double ones(not the single trunk type) I made a rod that goes down below the window to a pivot then up the other side of glass to the latch. Later,Mark
i know where theres a pair that maybe ok to use out of a truck, i'll check and see if i can get them if you want.========miller 35
Rebuilding what I have is my first plan of attack, but I need plan B just en-case I F" em up. Thanks that helps me picture what it would take to make them work. Thanks for everyone's time. Joe.
I rebuilt mine from some pretty crusty originals & they're still functioning O.K. One problem I do have is that the tines don't always return to the closing position when I open the door, so I've gotten into the habit of manually returning them with the handle every time I open the door. Like I said, they were pretty crappy. The tines were so deteriorated that I had to build them up with weld. (Blip, blip, blip, blip..you get the idea.)
JOE, CHECKED WITH THE GUY ABOUT THE 34 TRUCK CAB WITH THE LATCHES IN IT, WANTS TO SELL ME THE WHOLE TRUCK MAYBE, CAN'T MAKE UP HIS MIND, I REALLY DON'T NEED THE CAB, BUT SHOULD KNOW SOMETHING, TOMARROW, MY EMAIL IS sandymil@ptsi.net IF YOU WANT TO CHECK BACK WITH ME, EDDIE AKA MILLER 35
Finally got some time to work on the latches again. I did the drivers side shortly after starting this post, Had to pull that one back off to see what I did to do the passenger side, so in between torsion end links on the wife's HHR and brakes on the 98, I now have 2 fully latching doors on the 33, ya... the handles will be replaced down the line with locking cabriolets, but at least they work for now.
They were just released from Dick Spadaro Last week. They are brand new re-pops. They were $400 for the pair and they screwed right in and work PERFECT. Im very happy.
