Hot Rods Mild to Wild! Engines Set Back

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by JeffreyJames, Sep 24, 2008.

  1. HA! my hudson has a factory engine setback of about 4" from what the long wheelbase cars had. factory chop, factory setback, factory dual carbs, imagine the cars they'd be building if they were still around by the time the super stock wars hit in the 60s

I recently traded for a 55 ford post body and have had a 429 Cadillac w/ 6-2's sitting in my shop for several years,I'm kicking around the idea of basically putting the engine/trans right in the front seat and under the dash....very much inspired by the Glover '57
....anyways these are some pics I've stored on my hardrive for inspiration

You think triple trouble has the most radical engine set back yet? Check out this next car!

I guess that would be set forward?:p Since there never was an engine in front in the first place, the "setback" would be based on front axle centerline. The little strip near where I live will let you run most anything safe; but I still want it to be era-correct to the rules from "back in the day."

We're not done yet, but this is a blown Cadillac flathead, in my '38 Chevy coupe, 14.5' setback.

I think this car was running 3 motor. It still had the stock motor up front.
