Heres how I did them in my '46 Coupe with a Y-block, not very good pic's. Use your imagination and start building, just keep everything square and true. Figure your ch***is rake into it as well.

Hurst made a front mount, they turn up every once in a while.

There are some pics of the motor mounts at the bottom of page one.

Model A frame in the front and a model a body, you may gleen some other info from this post as well regarding yblock in model A

This body was channeled so the motor height may be different for your case.

I am putting a y block in a model a coupe with duece rails but I don't have any pics yet.

    good luck

KMA, The mounts for a Y-Block in an "A" can be as simple or extravagant as you desire. Mine is a couple of pieces of angle iron off of two bolts to the block eng mount location and then lines up with some V-8 mounts off of the frame rails. Pretty simple.

I was in the same dilemma as you..till I decided to build a race car and forgo the Y block.

A few months back, Rolling Bones had a HOW TO in Street Rodder. It is a killer engine plate-style motor mount. Pretty labor intensive, but I really like the way it looked.

On top of that, Hurst also suggested blocking off the draft tube and using the late valley cover with a PCV provision for mount clearence.

  8. I used a NOS Hurst front mount to put my 292 Y-Block in my Model A ch***is. I used some biscuit rubber mounts from Speedway and I fabricated some simple frame mounts that weld to the inner boxing plate and top of the frame rail. Easy install. As stated above, you've got to use the pickup truck timing cover and bellhousing. You can easily make a front Hurst style mount if you have the skills.

My mock-up mounts for test fit, later built from steel as shown above...

Hey Texas ! Boy you sure came up with some clean and simple mounts ! In my "A" we built simple mounts off of the block to some similar to go off of the frame. Came out real clean.
