hey i have sold cars overseas.where did you see it for sale? the car runs and drives nice. it has a rebuilt top end. it needs rockers on both doors.my final price is 4500.00. and you can call me on your dime. i am sure you are aware that it's hard to trust anyone when you are selling a car. so untill you have proven otherwise i will assume that this is a scam.

    Hey
Thanks for the prompt response.. I am writing you from London Uk.. I am a freelance agent here in the Uk.. I bring in vehicles for my clients on request and renovate if necessary.. So all I need to know is if the vehicle has a good body frame that can be worked on, its engine conditions i.e if it has any minor engine faults, also your final asking price considering the fact that it will be shipped on my expense. You can reach me on my cell at +447035992514.

Hope to read from you soon.

That thread of emails actually sounds pretty legit... but scammers from english speaking countries are going to be a little better versed at this I suppose.

The electronic transfer thing kinda bothers me though, do you give the transfer information to him or to the bank? If you give the information to the bank, how do you know if you're talking to a legitimate business? There's so many loopholes that it'd be difficult to feel comfortable enough for me to do this. I'd find out from your bank if there's any way you can have him send the monies directly to the bank (not through your account) and then be able to get the cash in hand.

If I had your bank routing number and your account number, I think it would be fairly easy to "bill" your account.

I think it's a scam. Have him call on his quater. If he dosen't call, forget about it. Be carefull on payment & shipping arrangements, don't refund any money.

I'd be really wary of anything using an "electronic bank transfer". In fact, I won't let my wife subscribe us to netflix because I don't want any "Automatic" deductions.

Let him know you'll do everything you can to facilitate the sale, but you won't let the truck leave your posession until you have CASH IN HAND. He shouldn't be in a hurry, he's just going to "refurbish" the vehicle anyhow.

You might want to ask who his shipper is, and see if he has any references from prior sales too.

Sounds fishy to me. If I were buying a vehicle "anywhere" I would want to talk with the seller over the phone - not just the impersonal internet. I would also want tons more detailed close up information along with a video tape of the car top, bottom, inside, door jams, rust, etc. I would hire a professional appraiser to see the car I was buying and then report the findings back to me. Plus this language sounds strange to me.
"my shipper will be doing a final checkup of the vehicle on the day of pickup but is there anyway I could like get some pics in my yahoomail box so I can defend the purchase with my boss?" It would seem logical to me that his boss first see photos and all the info about the car BEFORE pick up. In my view the shipper is just that -"a shipper". Why would he be the one offering an opinion on the quality of your car? Ask him for contact info of his shipper and then do some checking with the shipper.
If you have an uncomfortable feeling in your gut, PASS on this opportunity. Go to your bank and ask them the safest and fool proof way to transfer money from overseas to you if you think it's ok. I read somewhere on here where a seller opened a separate account at another bank to "do the deal" when he sold his car overseas. That way there's no way your other accounts can be put in jeapordy.

electronic bank transfers and automatic deductions are two different things. wire transfers can not be refunded. once it is in, it is in. of course these days people are leary of giving information out to strangers over the internet, but the main thing they need is your bank routing number, which is printed on every check you write

if the payment is in doubt, check with your bank to be sure.

well my reason for calling this Bul Shit..is this one simple thing..I dont see anywhere that the "vehicle" in question is named..

scamers like to use "item"\ "car".."vehicle" etc,....
i have never seen a scammer say..

Im interested in your "blue1940 ford coupe"
or any decriptive wording as such..

and i dont see this guy describing what exactly he is interested in either

    my other argument is thus..
banks are on just about every dam street corner.(right next to the drug stores).tell him to get someone stateside he trusts and have them cash his check at the bank and than come to your house or where ever you do your selling, and bring you pictures of dead presidents on green funny paper,, CASH ..FRN

because before all this change in policy we had Bob Hope, and Johnny Cash..and now theres no Hope, and No Cash...and so, no deal

trust me..if he is legit, and wants it..he'll figure it the F out.

I had a US citizen drive from Texas to buy something of mine..she wanted to write me a check..or give me a bank check..I said fine..sign it in the bank, you withdraw the funds and hand me Cash and than we will have a deal..if not..no deal.
I have at least 5 different banks all within 5 miles of my home..it went smooth

and amazingly,...i have never been scammed out of my money on deals in cash

Sure, I understand they are different animals....my point was that I don't trust anyone with MY account information...and I don't send checks either.

  12. Cash money in hand first...if not, forget it. Don't let yourself get screwed.

Tell him to wire the money to his shipper who will be looking the car over and he can pay you in cash directly.

I Sold A Car Recently Via Bank Transfer. Went To My Bank, Set Up A New Account, Gave The Buyer That Info,, He Transfered Funds, I Got The Money And Closed The Account. The Bank Told Me This Was Foolproof . I Did Not Give The Buyer Any Info Of My Regular Account

I'm from an english speaking and english dominated nation and this guys english and his choice of words do not ring true - the way he constructs his sentences does not make complete gramatical car sense. If he was a true car guy his style of words would be different. I'd be very cautious. If I am wrong then I stand corrected however something does not ring true. I appreciate being able to trde internationally and don't like anyone who up sets the trust we have in our Hobby

Tell him to fly to the USA, put the cash in your hand, and then HE can drive it to the shipper. There has to be a buyer in the US, why even bother with this guy? If it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. Go with your gut feeling.

Regardless, he seems like an elusive ass and I don't deal with asses, either buying or selling. Of course it will be shipped at his expense as it always the case. I wouldn't give a crap if he lived on Mars and would cost him $10B to get it there. He's still paying no matter what. What an pompous idiot.

I live in Finland and have bought cars from US but only from companies so far.
The bank wire transfer prepayment is safe to seller and all risk is buyers. I have taken that risk couple of times and trusted sellers. In my cases all went fine.

Send him an email saying you are not interested in doing business with him and let it be. Too much "iffiness" about him. He should be phoning YOU first. He should mention the vehicle by what it is and where he found your ad. None of this has happened.

If he trusts his shipper to do a vehicle inspection have him bring cash. It's only $4500 dollars so he shouldn't have a problem with this. I recommend not giving him any bank info.

The wording of all this doesn't seem right.
If he is a business man as he says he is, there should be some proof, like I work for "so and so" and maybe a link to a website, etc... yet he hasn't provided anything.
He should also be willing to call you about it, and he doesn't seem to want to do that either.
His concern over shipping costs seems like a lame attempt at not sounding like a scam.
    Investigate that phone number....

Don't do it without being able to verify who this guy is. Only accept a form of payment that can't be revoked later...

got similar mails from London when i tried selling a 46 ford coupe here in Europe. Sorry to say but this one reads like a scam.
He rushes it, does not question details on the car and does not try to negotiate the price.

Exactly my thoughts as well. This person is not from the UK. Unfortunately, the UK seems to be the country of choice for the scammers to use in their attempt to portray legitimacy. Scamarama.
