Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. One
    question though....with or without
Teletouch drive??? For me, I'd have to
    have the Teletouch.

  3. I WANNA RIDE!
Our neighbor had one when I was a kid. A maroon 4 door. Rode in the thing several times. Rode kinda goofy if I remember - maybe RN was right!
But a V8 transplant in one of those things? HELL YES! LETS SEE YOU PROGRESS PICS!

Hmm, I was thinking four-speed, but the push ****ons in the wheel could be fun...

  9. Next few weeks.

  10. I washed the car, and started waxing the quarter panel and roof; looks like the paint will shine up enough to warrant paint matching whatever doors I find, and the engine lid she came with.

    I love the Covair conversions.
maybe go completely different and drop the engine in the back with an olds transaxle and straight front axle. THAT might risk the wrath of the board traditionalists

    Keep on keep'n on...

DAMN... Hellfish beat me to it...

  16. I really like that car.

  17. When I first looked at the ***le of the thread, "unsafe at any speed", I wasn't sure if you were referring to Nader or the Corvair....... I've always believed the car was safer.

I have a photo somewhere that my dad took in the 70s of a black smallblock Chevy powered (if my memory serves me correctly...) Corvair. I think it was from an OKC Starbird show. I'll try to dig it up for you.

I had this in the early 70's--it had a square-tube frame, straight axle and somebody shortened a 12bolt rear for it.I had a small block, big block / auto, and 4 spped at any given time in it.It was ALL over the track!
