I've used Seafoam and it flat works. Drop in a bottle/can whatever and go, then come back with a bottle of good old MMO to finish the job. Half in the oil and the other half in the gas tank. I figure that Seafoam is one hell of a cleaner and good old MMO is a great old-fashioned "top-oil" like way back when. pdq67
I also prefer Techron Concentrate over Seafoam. but I do use the hell out of Deep Creep! I live on an airport and neighbors nearly called the FD when I Seafoamed. I did 3 cars at once and the airport went IFR.
Is it still green? and does it still not smell like diesel fuel like so many other fuel additives do.
My OT 92 Cadillac Brougham sat for 10 years befor i bought it. The stuff that came out of my engine oil, exhaust & transmission, will haunt me for a bit. Sea-Foam in every fluid, cleaned it all out.
A few years ago a 3M representative came to our shop to promote their new line of fuel system additives. When he asked what we had been using we told him Sea Foam. He snickered and said something like, "You Minnesota guys and your Sea Foam..." I guess he didn't know 3M started up here in MN also... I know it's a well known product in the mid-west but may not be everywhere. I've used all of their products with good re****s. I usually end up throwing a bottle of the Trans Tune in my F100 every spring when the transmission starts slipping again. Within a mile of driving it's got third gear again. I know it isn't a fix but it's a good band-aid. Jay
I use it all the time , cars and bikes. works good if you like your neighbors do it when nobodys home cuz it will smoke like a sona***** a few minutes
I've used it many times, it's the only fuel system cleaner I have used an actually got the results I was looking for.
had to check out the youtube link, the guys father that started the company has a vid. on there, use to sell it in beer bottles to his friends, the name came from a friend in Fla. wanting some more of that"seafoam" stuff, Hence the name was found....
i put a can in a full tank of gas in 47 CHEBBIE truck i drove to a rod run.out of town. seemed like i got a bad tank of gas when i got there, any who, fill up, put in s/f went to eat before we left. park on a littl e hill. went in and ate, came out where the tank was filled to the top the gas had run out ,down the side of truck, took all the paint right off. had run tank over before but not with s/f in it.strong stuff, not *****in cause i use it in all my vehicles. great stuff
Put a can in my winter beater truck with a billion miles. Was stalling, and idling weird before, but now runs smooth. Might even last another winter.
Man, I am eating crow today! I started this thread because a buddy was telling about all of the great things he had read about "Sea Foam". I say, "lets ask the guys on the HAMB because they are a tell it like it is bunch and will let us know if it is all it is cracked up to be.'' (His info came from some OT board). I really thought that this stuff was just another overrated can-o-****,but now I am out to buy some because of about 30 great reports! THANKS,MAN!
I actually picked up a can today for my daily driver POS '00 Taurus after reading this thread. Picked it up at Wally World along with some MMO. The Sea Foam was $9 and some change for a 16oz. Looking forward to stinking up the neighborhood!
I use it on my bike, it works great! I throw it in the cars fuel tank on occasion for preventative measures.
I've used it in all my cars and trucks, as well as snowblowers, lawnmowers, Trail 90's, etc...seemed to work great a fuel stabilizer for off season storage.
As I said before, I believe in the stuff. However yesterday I went to the parts store to get 4 cans to put in my cars before I put them in storage, and it was almost $9 a can. WTF? It really can't be that expensive to make. I think those guys are profiting greatly from their good reputation (the American way). I think it's about time somebody else came out with an equivalent product at a reasonable price (also the American way). Seriously, anybody here use something that works as well but is a little more reasonably priced?
I use sea foam to clean parts that are really grungy. A few years back I had an FE that someone had sugared. All the valves ended up stuck with this carmel looking ****. I didn't want to drive them out so I poured seafoam over the stems and let it set over night, next day they were still dirty but I was amble to remove them by hand. Cleaned everything up with sea foam poured some in each cylinder and rotted the motor by hand to get the walls coated real well. Cleaned up the valves and lapped them. Put it back together and drove the car for over a year then sold it to a HAMBer who drove the hell out of it. I dump some in my crank case once a year about 1000 miles bfore an oil change and then change the oil when its time. I've dumped some down thwe carb when I think one is carboned up. I don't swear by it and its not overhaul in a can but it helps keep things clean. Clean is good.
I have used it for a few years now and I think it is great stuff. An old farmer told me about it and says it is great as a fuel stabilizer. I have never added it to my oil. By the way, before I used it the first time I asked a guy who sells and services lawn and garden machinery. He said that Kawasaki recomends it over Stabil. It has been on the market for many years.
Any idea if it affects the 02 sensors? My late model is getting a lot of miles on it and I have been thinking about it but am a little leery of all the electronics.
I dump a can of the stuff in the gas tank of my '02 Durango a two or three times a year and haven't had any problems. I was never one to believe in all the snake oil additives out there, but Seafoam really works. Also...if you put it in the gas tank it doesn't smoke everything out. That's only if you dump it directly in the carb.
Just paid $6.50 at the local menards the other day.I can remember paying about $3.00 a can just a couple of years ago.Stuff seams to work pretty good even if it was $10.00 a can.
