I just got my flights and we are headed out to California for the weekend to attend this throw down......

  2. Congratulations Faith. I hope you bring it to Santa Cruz, we've got some cool theaters and we're hot rod friendly.

PS Thanks for the Netflix heads-up, it's been in my queue forever.

The "Premier" of the Deuce Of Spades was a success, thanks Faith Granger. The movie on the other hand was the highlight and exceeded my idea of how the movie would be. Faith and everyone who helped make the movie, needs to be congratulated. What is nice is there are no political or social messages to the story, just great cars and a little love thrown in. Go see it or buy it, you won't be sorry.

    Faith,

Congratulations on "your" day. Great weather, good car show and all the side stuff worked out well. At the end of my screening the cheers from the professional movie folks indicated what a sucess your film is.

Guess I'm looking at it differently... I didn't view it as purchasing a DVD, I viewed it as a chance to help someone chase their dream and hopefully eventually get a good DVD out of it to boot. If I ordered a DVD of a finished movie and it took a year to deliver, yes I'd be mad too. But I knew it would take a long time for this project to come to fruition, if it ever did. I'm amazed at her tenacious spirit and the fact she actually pulled it off. My hat is definitely off to Faith and I hope my pre-purchase actually helped her in some small way.

It's better than pre-purchasing a movie from WalMart or Best Buy knowing that they are only scamming people to make interest off their pre-purchase money since they are going to make a kajillion copies of the DVD any way and there is absolutely no chance they will ever run out of them. Heck the extra copies will even end up in the $5 bin next year to boot.

So congrats again Faith! I'll anxiously (but patiently) await my DVD.

My wife and I attended the "World Premiere" in Fillmore, CA and was very impressed with the event. It was more than we had expected and was pleasantly surprised with the whole event - car show, lunch, several live bands, dancing and of course the movie.
A nice touch was lunch in the train where we got to sit with one of the actors and chatted about the movie and its workings. After lunch, we had a three hour gap before our 4 p.m. viewing so we wandered over to City Hall where the band Mystery Train from Finland was playing Rockabilly music to the audience. Many great Swing dancers took advantage of their lively Swing/Jive rythmn strutting their stuff. It was novel to see a band from Finland playing American music for American people... oh, this world is getting so small!
4 p.m. rolled around and it was time for the movie in a nostalgic theater that was built in 1916. The line was long and anticipation high. The actors came rolling up in cars for the "red carpet" treatment as the crowd cheered them on. Once inside the lobby, Faith and the main actor (Timothy Luke aka Johnny Calloway) greeted and thanked everyone for coming which was a classy touch. While watching the movie, I couldn't help but feel the dedication, perseverance and tenacity it took to complete this project. The cinematography was wonderful as well as the story line. There was something for everyone - drag race, in the garage, comedy, drama, love, tear jerker, fights, salt flats, real live heros, etc. True, Faith had lots of help as this movie was done on a limited budget and gratis, but one person had to see it through to this point and for that, I SALUTE you Faith Granger!
The car show was a nice touch also with cars used in the movie as well as anyone that wanted to show their rides which lined Central and Main St. Once the last movie was over, the streets were opened back to the public and the custom rides began to disperse.
Timothy Luke is a handsome, personable young aspiring actor, sometimes reminding me of Patrick Swazey from different angles. I wish him much success in his career as an actor! Faith showed the world she can do it and with that said, I wish you much success in the film industry! I hope this movie gets picked up on the big screen and if it shows near you, it's a must see! Vic

It was truly an amazing event!! Standing ovation at both screening and the red carpet screening standing ovation lasted for more than 2 minutes straight, people clapped the entire time, without stopping. It was overwhelming. I can't even describe it. Jim Nelson, who directed hundreds of films and worked on "Rebell without a cause" is a major veteran when it comes to filmmaking. Both him and his wife said the same words " Amazing" and "unbelievable"... That's pretty much what most of everybody was saying that night. The fim made the cover of the Ventura Star newspaper today. To quote the Gasoline Girls facebook post:

GasolineGirls CarClub If you love hot rods, you MUST SEE THIS FILM!!!! Truly exceptional work by Faith Granger Filmmaker! I haven't loved a movie this much in a long time. Find a screening near you, or buy your copy! Photos of the Premiere coming soon. What an amazing day. Thank you Faith for an unforgettable day!!"
