No way! That'd be crass. Better to go
to store, pick out a toy, buy it and
hand it to her in person!:D

Pat, you've got a good point. Another reason I was hoping to put it in the driveway was to avoid having to get it up the driveway and then squeeze it in the the garage. Looks like that's what I'll be doing though. Thanks for everybody's input. I've got to go find me some strong friends.

How about using a come-a-long? That should have no problem getting your car up the driveway.

yea that or a chain fall

  9. Throw a flag over the mail lady's fare and F her for old glory, then maybe she'll shut up. Or chock the wheels and chain it to something so it won't move.

Worst case just let the air out of a few tires. Fill them back up when you have to move it.

A section of pipe with the chain run through it to move the car with a tow vehicle, chock the wheels to park.
I'm siding with the mail lady too. I hate it when people leave stuff parked on the street. Just because you own the house don't mean you own the street in front of it. Plus a lot of cars get sideswiped, hit and run shit like that. If it means anything to you, get it onto your property. 'Course that's all easy for me to say, I have 80 acres here, and still live on the edge of town.

  13. I've got a steep driveway and no real garage! Here is my '29 chocked in front of my temporary garage. The wheel chock is a piece of a '62 Stude frame I shortened 16"!

Geez, there's no way you'd park an unregistered, unlicensed vehicle on the street around here without getting fined. There's even an ordinance that will ticket you if the vehicle is parked in your driveway (and viewable from the street) with no plates. Better be covered or garaged.

.....Very interesting thread.......thanks for the laughs.....

  16. I find the hate for mail carriers disturbing. You guys probably screw with waiters and waitresses too.

You know they'll spit in your food because of it, don't you?

I find the fact that the lady who delivers my mail told me she makes $96k a year. That's real fucking disturbing...

  18. Since it's illegal to have a non registered vehicle on the street in California, I'd move it pronto. If you get a ticket the registration will go way up because of this.

  19. The city of Tacoma made me move my collector plated car from the carport,(inside of my chain link fenced yard)into the garage. They said "because it can still be seen from the street". Or, it needed to be behind a six foot tall privacy fence in the back yard. But the inspectors here stand on stepstools to look over your fence for "violations" and take pictures. I asked about a car cover and was told it wasnt good enough for codes or ordinances.

Put it in the driveway and chock it, all tires. A cinder block or a brick is not a chock. Did the kids put a pooper b m in your mail box over the halloween week end? I always check mine, a loaf in the box really makes the post office pissy, they really have no poo poo sense of humor.

  21. BS.She is messing with you. I retired from delivering mail recently and there is no way she makes that much at the post office. That is upper management wages.Working all the overtime and off days you can get will only get you over 50k.There are only so many hours to work.Either she or you are full of it.UPS makes more dough than mail carriers and I doubt that they can make that much either.

yea no waiters and waitresses get the golden pass since they have control of my food before i get it. i go out of my way to be super nice, and say sorry after i asked for something. if they suck bad at service, that will reflect on their tip.
