Well, Finally getting around to post my build. I'm in the mock up stage right now. Have a 331 Hemi in it with a ford toploader behind it. Going to do the jeep top thing on the trans. Just picked up 4x2 setup, Put it on to see what it looks like. Also cut a 36 ford dash to fit. Hope to get it on the road by spring.
Hey, Thanks for the support and comments. Here is a few more pics of when I started this project. Should have put them in my first post, but I do things b*** ackwards. Also forgot to mention I'm going to chop it 4"s. Also did a mini channel as you can see the body is over the frame some.Proably forgot some other details? But my mind isn't as sharp as it used to be. Ye right!
Your build is lookin' good... Looks like a So-Cal step boxed frame??? Did you make the rear subrails??? Tell us about it... It's hard too beat a chopt Model A Coupe on deuce rails... Keep up the good work...
Wow! Love the Hemi! You got my attention on this one, this is going to be a great build! Going to be watching this one for sure. Good luck.
Hemi anything gets my attention. I like that you rolled your subrails instead of merely stepping them. A '30-31, plus Hemi, plus '32 rails is an instant winner. Of course I am envious.
There's something about those big fat heads sticking out that is bad ***. I had 2 354s and wish I never sold them.
Hemi + Model A Coupe + '32 frame = Way cool!! Do you have more photos of your rear subrails and how the are attached to the body and frame? Thanks! Malcolm
wow just amazing... i love how the simple stock looking cars can look sooooo great, with just a few improvemnets, like the hemi and 32 frame...
---------------------------------------------------------------------- The frame is a pinched So-Cal step boxed frame. Sub rails I got from Riley Automotive. I'm not that talented or have the resources to make them. <!-- / message -->
Coming along with the frame, it's a roller know. Engine and trans are in, all the brake plumbing is fin. Just noticed there is not much clearance for the drive shaft under the cross tube. I think I'm going to C'notch it. Here are a few pics
You've got a winner on your hands there. Especially like the fact you seem to be starting with some exceptionally good ingredients (no/little rust) Not a big deal but why the reference to a 5w? ALL Model A coupes were 5 windows, hence Model A coupe is sufficient for description. Starting in '32 Ford offered both a 5w and a 3w so the number of windows designation is important to distinguish between the two. Frank
Well, started her up yesterday for the first time, Started on the first crank, boy was I suprised.Ran for about ten minutes or so then she over heated and started to puke so I shut er down. Need to wire, put in the seats and take care of the heating problem, will be ready for road test.Oh and I forgot, Chop! Also Holley comes off I used for brake in, and 4x2 setup goes on.
I've got the same plan in mind for my '30 Roadster. I thought a 354 HEMI with a Ford top loader in a '32 ch***is didn't need the firewall cut at all. Could you have done it without notching the center?
The picture is decieving. The bellhousing does come past the firewall.I even moved the body back a little for firewall clearance.I could have done a better cut out.
Really.....a 31 5w? Thanks for clearing that up,cause I would have never figured it out....being that 3w 31's are soooooo rare! haha!
